Wow! First, some members write in to "support" Phankao. Now, some members write in to "support" vlim. Ok, ok, I did not mean to say that vlim is not a nice person, just that my very first reaction when reading her that particular post "puts me off". That’s all. Maybe I misinterpreted it. As I mentioned in another thread (RI vs HCI), the readings in this thread are "happier" as parents share tips, info and advice with one another.

RE: DSA 2011

in this particular case, vlim was not complaining about our government giving scholarships to FTs' kids instead of sporeans' kids, she was merely putting herself in the shoes of other parents, whose kids have not gotten a CO, and empathised with them. even if vlim was complaining about the matter (but i know she was not), i do not see anything wrong with that. you mean we cannot express our displeasure about something, just becoz our kids already have COs from 'premier' schools? :?
Actually, when I read the comment made by vlim about \"putting herself in the shoes of other parents, whose kids have not gotten a CO...\" I was quite put off. I mean, what is so wrong to be without a CO? They need empathy? If I may add, I empathise with those kids who have to attend numerous tuitions/enrichment (some since a young age), do countless and countless of past year papers, or groomings/coachings by parents etc to maintain their top positions or competitive edge over others.

RE: Presidential Election 2011
TT can go ahead and be the elected president but TCB will truly be the people’s president in my heart.

RE: Presidential Election 2011

RE: RI or HCI
I am not from RI/HCI or RJC/HCJC, I am just a silent reader of this thread. Please do not be so hostile towards those who do not share your views, stop the arguments, 得饶人处且饶人,不要咄咄逼人, we are here to share info, each is entitled to their own views.
The posts in the DSA thread and Primary School registration threads are much "happier". The parents share info, encourage and feel happy for one another in their successful endeavours (be it a successful DSA or P1 balloting). -
RE: DSA 2011
Edureach,
Thank you, thank you so much for your enlightenment. I must admit I get really nervous reading some of the posts, and the extent of involvement by parents really put my spouse and I to shame. -

I also wonder, “how many sentences out of ten we read is (ahem!) having errs?” Whatever that means.

It is up to individual how much mixes they like or no mix… but do be clear when you tell people that you come from English/Mandarin speaking family, you better meet that standard else isn’t this inviting embarrassment for yourself and your family?\t

This issue about inviting embarrassment for yourself and your family ….. you are referring to …..? Reminds me of an old wise saying: When you are pointing a finger at others, at the same time, you are pointing four fingers at yourself.
Thanks for the good intention in highlighting the society’s problem, but I reiterate, if one person wants to criticize the others, that person must be at an almost 无懈可击 level, if not it is just “the pot calling the kettle black”, no 说服力. -

Quote: In English :\"The Mummy is coming after you!\", \"My Mummy/ Mommy is taking me to the zoo!\" Does any of these give u the term as \"mǎ mí\"? any chance? Unquote
I have a question - your sentence of “The Mummy is coming after you!” – is it correct? any chance?
Poor child, is his Mommy a Monster?
LOL. Sorry, I cannot resist it, but I just want to defend my children’s usage of \"mǎ mí\".
sian too, also going to bed.
