Am in the same situation…deciding between the Gallant and something from one of the ergo desk + chair combi.


Am probably going for the ergo desk and decision process is below

The Gallant table itself probably a good buy at $209 with height adjustable legs. If you get a chair, depending on what you purchase, it could be approx $200 to about $500 (for something ergonomic)

Assuming you buy the Ikea gallnt, you have in mind something more customized for your kid…ie ergonomic. so you probably buy a chair that is mid quaility for about $200??

i really like the hiegh adjustable features of the table. The chair…hmmm think most chair may be enough but thinking about it i really like to have a chair last my kid minimum 5-6 years, is rugged/sturdy, can be cleaned, comfortable.

i thought about getting gallant + ergo chair

$209+$499= $708 but it was too close to the combi with the full blown ergo table n if i got yhe package its $100 less

Say you bought a table + chair combi min. =$200+$209=$409. not including delivery for Ikea and assembly…say add +5%= $450

The ergo combis i saw start at about $800 up wards. The one i am keen on is $998.

Its a kettler + buggy chair

Given the 5 year warranty on both chair n table, my kids are K2 & P1…its a lot of money but if i look at the $548 difference divide that by 5 years in time for PSLE…hmm $109 a year not too much to get an ergo desk n chair

I must admit the convenience of having height adjustable table is great.

even if you get a chair that is height adjustable their legs may hang and so blood flow comfort not too good.

I admit its really a lot of diff from when i was younger and any table chair combi would do. Guess times are changing…hehehe mentin a $130,000 toyota even 5 years ago people think you are craazy but with inflation…our own buying power…guess question is what’s your bedget then get the best out of it.

I also do the 5 year depreciation on the decision since i am 100% sure, unless the house burns or there is an earhtquake(touch wood)…the kids will have to keep using their desk.

i would have loved a MOLL…sigh from the website n pics they look lovely i called but the prices were not within my budget.

I had a look at the Taiwanese, wty for some were an issue, somme were just too pricey. I could not be bothered with the abilty to move the table up & down to often with the hydralics etc…its nice to have but how often do your kids stand up an work/study…the desk i plan on getting can do this just very manual…cuz i am not planning to have the whole stand up n work too often

i think they are plenty of choices out there including IKEA

I would try to visit, take a close look at the table ask about what’s covered in the wty or not. If something isn’t covered what it cost to replace.

it’s a a 5 year decision at minimum, if you are lucky it can last them till secondary n who know college

impt. buy earlier n enjoy it for longer.
