I recommend Xuelin! My sec 1 went for his 1st lesson last week and enjoyed it thoroughly! I like their materials, very current; using the newspaper. I even went to match with the actual copy of the newspaper just to be sure that’s it’s word for word! Very paranoid! but just want to be sure cos in the past, once bittewn twice shy.
I really feel that I am sending my son to the right place. The teacher told me that his foundation is not strong and suggested him to come in when his & her time permit, she will help him to catch up for few lessons!
My sec 3 is still trying hard to figure her time to Xuelin. It seems that they are quite full and can’t accomodate my doter’s schedule. Still trying…

RE: Busy Bee Learning Centre - Discussion
Dear Cherrygal, I put my children to Busybee since they were P3 for both the compo writing and and the paper 2. Yes, I regretted that I didn’t listen to them who had dragged their feet to the classes, I thought it was just the Chinese tinggy. Their materials are very drilling(填鸭式)and just force down to the children. Very wordy but if you read carefully, it doesn’t help the children very much in the long run. The vocabs are very limited and they just memorised but can’t really used them on their own. I must say that it’s was also my fault that I didn’t evaluate the materials nor revised when they came home. Horror struck me when I was packing the files and reading them after my son’s P5 SA1. I pulled out immediately but damage done! especially to my elder one.

RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Secondary)
I do not think you need to worry because their class size is very small. The teachers ensure me that they will be able to take care of each and every one of their students. Yet to be seen, but I am very comfortable with them. I also recommend Xuelin to my very super KS friend; she is also signing up for her children. Now she is rearranging the schedule.

Rose,
P2 is too early for compo writing; you may have short term gain but long term lost of interest! This is what I had put my children thru! Regret! They seems to do well in P3, P4 but lost the interest because foundation was not properly built. I check out last weekend with my 2 children at Xuelin Learning in Bukit Timah Plaza, spoken to their teachers, had seen their materials(current, and doing newspaper readingfrom K1 to S4), very impressed with them. But sorry, I have not seen P2 ones. You may want to check them out! -
RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Pebblesrock, I suggest that you pay both the centers a visit and feel about them yourselves. Ultimately, you have to be comfortable with your choice. I brought my 2 children; they decided that they want to be in Xuelin because of the environment, teachers and materials. I must say that their materials are very current, using newspaper! which I like. (indirectly getting them to read).I am surprised to see my elder one trying hard to plan her schedule to fit into Xuelin's. I hope this positive push can substain :rahrah:

RE: [Bukit Timah] Tutors/Tuition Centres/Enrichment
You can check out Xuelin Learning Hub in Bukit Timah Plaza. The lady boss told my sis that they are rolling out their 3 yrs old program in 2 weeks time. Their materials(K&Sec) are very impressive and teachers seems very passionate. I signed up for my sec 1 son! My sis is very keen to enrol her 3 years old but they are not taking in any yet as well as very selective. My sis is worried that Xuelin will not accept my niece!

GG,
You can check out Xuelin in Katong 112. I know that they have sec sch program. My 3 boys are in pri/k2, can't tell you much abt it but I know they have very dedicated teachers as my boys are having lessons there. All I know or experience is that they have very updated materials and exposing the students to lots of newspaper reading. -

Kid:
I read with interest with Kid's posting. I think we should start threads discussing about secondary school Chinese enrichment. I am now having problem finding a good center for my children. My elder one is suffering from lack of interest N having poor grades! Please discuss secondary school english enrichment here as there are not many threads discussing about secondary school english enrichment.
Thank you!
