Out of curiosity, may I ask what are the value/approaches the current principal LHB placed emphasis upon?


I selected primary school based purely on geographical proximity. But I do seriously wonder if there is any parent who research on the various school's approaches and emphasis toward character development and/or academic excellence. I wonder too how you go about getting the right information.

Not sure if anyone has better luck in getting more stats from this school. Apart from telling you that balloting is required, the lady is unwillingly to share much.

However, when I called this morning to again probe, the admin lady mentioned to me that for 1-2km, balloting required, 21 going for 1 place. I find that incredulous and unbelievable. So I paraphrased and asked if all 64 vacanices are all taken by those within 1km (I didn’t quite get a reply on it).

I wonder if anyone on this thread have better info and tell me that I had misunderstood or heard wrongly. I am so doubtful about it and intend to pay a personal visit to clarify.

AiTong school on the contrary seems to be a better alternative now.

May I check if any parent heard of soy oligosaccharide or if any parent give this to your child? It is said to promote good intestinal health.

My 3yo boy has constipation issue despite daily fruit intake. He is a picky eater I must say and generally refuses veg. PD allows him on the stool softener and use of the enema (the gel pump into his anus to stimulate bowel movement). I am worried about the frequent use and am beginning to wonder if my boy can poop naturally… sometimes I wonder if he has a "mental obstacle" to passing motion.
I was recommended the soy oligosaccharide.last month by my SIL. Although I started giving daily dose of it to my boy, I am still having 2nd thoughts about it.
(The one I got: It is not inexpensive and it is China-made) Actually I have much self doubts and I am torn between continuing it and stopping it, sigh…

Would appreciate it if anyone has any feedback (both positive or negative) to share on this…

Hello Autumnbronze, I remember you fondly


Yes the elder boy can be pretty defiant. He is a master negotiator and the teachers at his centre needs to adopt a different approach to get him to perform his tasks (to his wilingness and cooperation).

He is vocal and expressive yet does not wish to share much of what he did in his day. When he did something wrong like hurting his little brother, hurling a toy at him etc, he knows he is at fault and apologise profusely to avoid being caned. Yet there seem to be this "disconnect" between his action and his thought. He knows he cannot hurt but at the instance, cannot control himself or would have forgotten about the golden rules.

He seems so independent when we are out that I worry that one day I would lose him in the crowd. He dashes off and we lose sight of him quickly. With him, I feel like I have to be more a facilitator than a traditional mom. Perhaps it is just me, I am a generation-transition mom, sandwiched between the teaching back in our days and progressing to be fair and open-minded. I am not ready for the kind of independence my son needs and my energy is spent.

In a society like this, it becomes more difficult. Parenting is so tough here =(
I am relieved there is somewhere I can let off some steam… I know in here I am not the only one.

I am torn between the school of no corporal punishment and the \"spare the rod, spoil the child\" saying. I have two boys, 4.5 and 2.5yrs, with the eldest being the most defiant. But I feel heartbroken after each canning episode (usually a stroke or two).

If I recall correctly, it was probably bought at 199 or 299 but considering the length of time I have been using it, i think it is value for money.
