How about Temasek JC ?
What is the %tage of IP vs. JAE ?

50 % each ?

===========================

How about RI ?

The same as Hwa Chong,
ratio (proportion ) also the same as Hwa Chong ?

70% (IP) vs. 30 % (JAE) ?
I reckon RI has more ip kids.
Do you think moe will allow RI to drop its std. So sure ne ip kids to sustain its long track acad.
Not to deny, RI JAEs are from top % cohort.
RI sure excel than other JCs esp JAE JCs.

Tjc ah, dk.
But from its so so A level results for a IP JC, should be more JAEs.

No wonder, moe abolish Sch/ JC Ranking, can see ip JCs are not performing as gd as expected.

If you want to be called an \"IP-JC\", then Yes,

believed that
the percentage of IP students will always exceed that of JAE. Moe decide what targeted %tage of IP students to set at, for admission.

Otherwise,
why would people even name & call them \"IP-JC\" (A-level), in the very first place ?

Hwa Chong : 70% (IP), 30% (JAE)

Dunman High and River Valley High : 80 % (IP), 20% (JAE)

Eunoia JC : 60 % (IP), but Eunoia is different from Hwa Chong/ Dunman High / River Valley High

Why different ?

Because

EJC come from 3 different Secondary schools, not from your usual standard 2 schools (boys Hwa Chong side and Girls from Nanyang Girls High side)

Nor like the 2 standard boys Victoria school & Cedar Girls Sec

Temasek JC : ? Percentage of IP vs. JAE ?

Victoria JC ? Percentage of IP ?

National JC ?

RI ?
Vjc 40% ip
Njc about 30-40 % ip

That was what I heard a few years ago when attending a school talk. Cannot suka suka increase or decrease proportion of IP and JAE. All decisions are made by MOE.

So moe has always wanted HCI/RI to be top 1 or 2 by having more ip kids?

Dhs and Rv have 80% ip kids inside but this time results plunged.

Moe also plan to maintain Ejc std by maintaining its 60% ip kids.

Top 1 or 2 JCs must have more IP kids?
Are you insulting NYJC which has zero IP kids?
What is the point of your your question?
Hci obviously have 70% ip kids as shared.
But then Dhs/Rv which have more ip , didnt do well.
Point is Moe controls num of ip kids cohort, thus hoping ip jcs can do well.
Hci and maybe RI will always be num 1, 2.

Ejc , still need to ascertain for a few years more, but its expected to do fairly ok as has more ip kids too.

The issue discussed is ip jcs only.
Out of context on jae jcs.

Generally ip jcs tend to outshine more with moe support except Dhs, Rv, Njc, Tjc.

I believe (teachers here, please feel free to comment) the intake numbers are solely determined by MOE.
Even for independent schools, they cannot set their own intake numbers. Only private international schools can.
No school can suddenly increase intake by 100 JAE a year - it has to be planned for and catered for by MOE because you need to have the teachers posted in to teach the additional students! Teacher deployment is by MOE, except for teachers which are directly employed by independent schools. (However EJC is not an independent school and teacher numbers and deployment are solely determined by MOE.) Independent schools do have a proportion of directly contracted teachers, as well as a sizable pool of MOE teachers.

That was what I heard a few years ago when attending a school talk. Cannot suka suka increase or decrease proportion of IP and JAE. All decisions are made by MOE.

Comparing RV results year 2019 to 2020

A) 3 H2 dist
- 36.9% (2019), 25% (2020)
B) 3H2 passes including a pass in General Paper.
- 98.4% (2019), 97.5% (2020)
C) 4H2 passes including a pass in General Paper.
-99.2% (2019), 98.5% (2020)
D) students scored a perfect University Admissions Scores (UAS) of 90 rank points
- 28 kids (2019), 19 (2020)
E) scored at least 85 rank points.
- 43.3% (2019), 30%+ (2020)
F) achieved at least 6 distinctions
- 67 kids (2019), 48 (2020)

This is a concern seeing these results.
Its comparable to a mid Tier JC.

Based on info shared by parent SG_KP1, from the 2020 A-level batch results, one can deduce that

1) number of JAE (O-level) students intake, at River Valley High, in Year 2019

= 435 - 379

= 56 RV JAE students

Actually, based on the https://rivervalleyhigh-moe-edu-sg-admin.cwp.sg/achievements/2020-a-level-results, there were 90 JAE students for the Year 2019 batch.

What other factors caused results to dip?

1. Weather.
2. A butterfly flaps its wings in the distance.

P/S: “Drastically” is an overdramatized and exaggerated expression. The results are well within the standard range of movement.
When 1 is in denial mindset, they bring out scientific reason.
Yes,butterfly effect says small changes can have large consequences-
Dhs small % jae caused a sharp dip in its results, while causing RV aldy mid ranged results to dip further this time.

Ejc wd'nt want to take risk to up its Jae intake.
Ejc total intake hovers 600 with big campus while others intake close 700 or more.

\"The results are well within the standard range of movement\"- not amongst top tier jcs.

Ah... HCI JAE only < 30% so HCI top 1 or 2.

Oh then last time DHS 100% IP students only then shouldn’t it be the TOP school in SG?

Going by your logic, NYJC with 100% JAE students, does this make it the worst school?

My point is, there are many other factors, not just go by % of JAE.

Previously Dhs with full IP, didnt get to top so explains its std compared to HCI/RI.

What other factors caused results to dip so drastically lei ? Care to share, pls.

Ejc after shifted to new big site, didnt up its JAE intake.

Oh, so EJC didn’t up its JAE intake, kept constant, 60% 40%, but its results improved! Ah then EJC is growing from strength to strength !!

You didn’t rebut to the statement highlighted in red which means you agreed with it?
With its big cohort ip, its expected from Ejc but still need see its future results to firm its status or wait til its Jae intake is increased.

Qms shared HCI JAE only < 30%, that may explained why HCI always top 1 or 2 now.
