yeo88:Carebear,You are son funny! I really hope our helpers would be back..I have applied online this morning and date of WP is set for next week. Really quick! I am just a few days behind you! Need to ask you one more question. Who is the witness on the security bond form? Do I need to get my hubby to sign or MOM officer will be the witness? Thanks a million...That part I did not ask the staff there.I left it blank, and signed it in the presence of the staff there and he was my witness. If you are the employer, and if you are going down personally to collect the permit, then leave it blank and sign there and the staff will be the witness. If you are getting someone to collect on your behalf then I would advise you to email the WP department for instructions or call them up... Surprisingly the hotline is easily accessible! And don't forget to ask your maid to sign the declaration at the back of the renewal form. The employer also has to sign it.Cheers !

primera, You have to check with the US embassy or their website for the visa requirement. I brought my Filipino helper to Korea for holiday and I did her visa (free) at the Korean Embassy.

Hi - We will be travelling to US with 2 young kids for about 4 weeks in March of next year. How difficult is it to get a visa to take our Philippino helper with US and is it advisable/worth the hassle? Any input greatly appreciated. Thank you.

mng_kl:oh... AIA... I saw their quotes... v expensive... MMM, you bought Executive plan for your FDW?Agree with you that AIA is rather expensive but their cover is comprehensive.I wanted to buy from them but they don't entertain phone call sales and asked me to buy from maid agency. But the 2 maid agencies were not updated with their facts. They insisted that I could only renew the WP exactly 1 month before they work permit expires and that the new WP will start on the day of application for 2 years which they say would mean the WP will expire earlier if you renew earlier. This is not true as I have checked with MOM.NTUC from which i bought the insurance was knowledgeable and efficient and I bought the insurance over the phone and could renew the work permit the very next day!If you look at NTUC, it is comparable to AIA.There is a rider which you can choose to top up if you feel that hospitalisation coverage is insufficient.I will top up when maid comes back from home leave.

There are so many agencies out there it's very confusing. I'm looking for a transfer maid who can cook well. Has anyone heard of or used HireStrategy agency and can share if they are good? Or perhaps you have experience with a good agency for transfer maids? Please share with me. Thank you!
