All About English Creative Writing

my P3 DS dislikes writing compo. He is very dependent on us to guide him thru.I tried to give him some guidelines, reference books b4 he starts, but he still very reluctant.
He prefers to write Chinese compo instead of English compo.
how to cultiviate his interests in writing compo? I just engaged a english private tutor for him, but the teacher sound boring to him after 2 lessons. -
vinegar:
How about trying to get him to talk instead of write? Show him a diagram from picture compo books and ask him to make up a story to say about the diagrams. When he is done, explain how he can make his story more interesting and organised by helping him organise his points into 3 parts - intro, body and conclusion. Give him ideas of how to make his story funny or exciting. When you get him really excited and all pumped up about making a really good story, let him sit down and do the actual writing.my P3 DS dislikes writing compo. Try not to approach it as a test or exercise. Position it as how he gets to make his own stories. -
U’ve a good point.i’ve tried that but he finds it very sianz to write…The tutor even had outlined the story into 3 parts as u mentioned. He just nid to put it into proper compo. He just refuses to write.Even if he starts to write, will take him 3 to 4hours to finish one compo.Drive me nuts.
Sometx,he takes two days to finish one compo…
Recently,he has this habit of keep sharpening the pencil while he is writing. He also very particular in his handwriting. When he writes a comma or full stop,he has to keep "darken" the dot.I keep asking him why he has such habit but he can’t explain. -
Any recommendations for p1 writing classes in the east? I signed my girl up for mindstretcher’s writer’s toolbox but am thinking of withdrawing. I’m not keen on her having to copy model compositions.

Hi mummies and daddies,
Does anyone have experience with this school \"Monsters under the bed\" (MUTB)?
http://www.mutb.com.sg/index.html
I couldn't find any reviews on them, they seemed to have a lower profile compared to TAS, TLL, Mind Stretcher etc. But the fees seem to be on the high side ($320 for a month which makes it $80 for 1.5 hr lesson - comparable to TLL standard). But i was told the class size is smaller.
Any parents with feedback, please do kindly share! Many thanks!! -
Hi, my niece was with the monster but she says that she doesn’t understand and learn a lot. They will read through and run through the picture and in a way just guide the kids. So at the end when she does compo on school, the marks vary a lot. I think a lot of tuition centre are too spoon feeding. Currently she is with another centre. So far not bad. She showed me the worksheets and I’m thinking of sending my dd there. Cause they teach different way to start and end compo which I think is quite different from the currently tuition centre my dd is in. It is cheaper than the monster and her class only has 6 students. I only concern is travelling as it is in amk. I am thinking of heading down to check up the curriculum first.

Juz curious, is the centre The Alternative Story? -
No, I haven’t heard of that name. Is it in amk also ? My niece is only in the first module. Waiting till the end of the module to see results but so far it seems ok.
