      sean wife:
My child is in a TAS class which is one level higher than her actual school level, but only doing averagely well in the class. Thinking of whether to switch her to her actual school level or to continue with the current class….it is purely my thoughts, although the teacher at TAS feels that she can cope with her current level.

Would you rather your child feel be a ‘commoner’ in the higher level class, or probably do better than her peers in her school level class?
I suppose it also depends on what is the
age difference between the classmates and your child?

For example if your child is born in
January whereas the classmates are born let's say, between Oct-Dec, the age difference is only 1-3 months.

Of course if the classmates are born in early month of January, it would make a vast difference.

        Hi,

I guess I have no way of checking the birth dates of the classmates, and actually to me this is not really important as well…though my child is born in the month of September.

I am looking from the perspective that if she is not exactly getting high scores in TAS (because the work there is more challenging than her current level), will she take it that it is ok also not to get high scores in school, and tend to take it easy?

It is a bit of a dilemma. I think you know your child best. Some children will get complacent if they do not feel challenged. Others may feel ill confident when put with better pupils.

For me, I chose to leave my child in a higher level. Because I knew it would help to push and motivate and also if they are only learning things they can do very well in, even if it makes them exam smart, they are not really learning much.

Anyone can advise when is the term break for TAS for june school holidays? 🙂

& anyone has child in TAS bt timah, P2 fri 7.15pm class?
            who is the teacher?
how you find the class so far?
been wanting to send my girl to TAS, but prefer weekend class as my girl is in afternoon session, I worried that fri night will be too tiring for her..
but she did very badly for her recent 1st mini-test in school,
thus think i better start to send her to TAS or any other english enrichment.. thus thinking of sending my girl go for trial class at TAS to let teacher assess her & sign up subsequently..

Any other english enrichment ard bt timah/bt batok/bt pj/cck/clementi, besides TAS??

            Thanks for your advice!

              Hi,

I would like to find out the details about their P2 class at Bukit Timah Centre too! But I’m only interested in the weekday class between 3 pm to 6 pm if available.

              Thanks

                  Hi cool_hi 😄
When it comes to communication with TAS, you have to be extremely patient.. like 10 times more patient than any other enrichment centres out there.
I thk you can forget abt calling them, they never answer their calls but they will definitely reply your email, it's just a matter of how many days.
If you get lucky, they may return your call if you leave your no in the email.

TAS has great materials and some good teachers but communication is something they really have to SERIOUSLY look into.

Btw their regular lessons will still be on-going in June except i thk the 4th week.

Tas holiday will be around week of 22 june, only that precious one week. Btw there is a new form for parents. Seems like they are doing some customer relationship mgmt sys. Hopefully things will improve.

Thing about tas is that they dont have an office per se. Dont think they pay someone to just sit and take calls. Not sure if things have changed.

I have my gripes also but am sticking with them because of the materials and that ds enjoy his classes.

On going levels beyond. Ds1 was and is still placed at level beyond his age. Post p1, he has not been scoring well in class. But he did share that he is fine with that and this doesnt affect his confidence. So I left at that. Also tr said he can follow what is going on. Actually for most parts, in his pri school, he hasnt been able to use what he learnt in tas. But I’m taking it as prep in advance. So long as he has the skills when need be.

I’m not sure how good they are, but I’m just frustrated with trying to get hold of them for more information! I’ve sent them an email, left them a voice message & sent them sms, but still haven’t received any reply!

                        First impression is definitely bad!
