What is your dinner?

Yup, chunks takes a heck of a long time.
But for dishes that require chunks really bo pian. -
Jennifer, i normally cook beef under small fire only. More to simmer mode for 1-2 hours. Never large fires. Could it be that’s why yours was dry?

Funz, buds, :thankyou:

I cook in slow cooker, low for 7 hours the previous time. The soup was flavourful, but the beef pieces CMI.
My thermos pot came last week, hv to treat it first before using. Maybe using Thermos pot will hv a nicer texture.
My younger boy likes his carrot soft, if I were to cook for 1-2 hours only, the carrots will not be soft enough.
Need to re-think how I cook beef stew. -

:scared: what kind of carrots you using. 1-2hours and the carrots still not soft enough?buds:

Maybe you cook them in stages. start with the carrots for an hour first then add the beef for another hour or so followed by the potatoes and other veg. -

Sorry, Happyheart, I have a stupid question to ask as I have never baked rice before, the rice to use is the cooked rice, or uncooked?happyheart:
I think the contributing factor is u omit milk or stock. I won't use Campbell canned soup bcos it is too salty for us. U serve the dish? My younger boy usu. does not eat my failure dishes. The elder boy will. End up most go into my tummy:)
When I make baked cheese rice, I will make the sauce myself. Low fire- Melt butter, add milk and add flour when the mixture comes to a boil. Watch the fire closely as the sauce will thicken very fast. Add salt ( amount up to individual preference) &pepper.
Mix with the rice and ingredients and cheese ( kids like to see melted sticky shredded cheese as they eat) and top up with cheese before baking to golden brown.
Going to In law's place for dinner.DS and I are guessing what are tonight's menu, getting bored with the style and taste
:thankyou:
Use cooked rice only. But I am not sure of the type of flour to be used. Is it corn flour? -
mummy so kiasu:
These days, the silver fish sold in supermkt are the bigger versions. I think not so suitable to use in porridge as it might be too grainy due to the bones.
I have tried porridge cooked with silver fish (tiny & white in colour that can be used to fried eggs) fish cake & minced meat instead of beancurd. Very nice. Maybe you want to give it a try.happyheart:
Finally has time to kapo on what is for dinner, had been so busy last few days! Boys do not want to dine out but requested me to cook their favourite porridge and volunteer to wash the dishes.
Mix Fish cake, beancurd and 腰肉丸 when porridge is almost done. add pinch of pepper! Easy Peasy!
My children hate this silver fish, only hubby n I love to eat it with fried eggs. -
