Yes. In P5, be it English or Chinese, they expect you to structure your answer to the way the questions want..
Like that seems that June Holidays is burnt.. Got to start reading all her work again. Goodness sake.. -
Whoopee! Exams over! Spent the weekend feeling relaxed & just bumming around, eating nice meals & basically letting the brain rot (though I should have made ds2 do his work, which I had neglected during SA1 period).
Anyway, no marking day for dd's school. They started receiving their papers after the last main paper. So far, some good, some disappointing. Gotta see her papers to see what went wrong with the unsatisfying results & work on it.
We didn't go to MGS open house on Sat as initially planned cos she only wanted to play Wii with ds2 then
Then yesterday, she told me she has 1 last exam - SS!
And just now, she texted me to tell me that she's organising a playdate this Fri! :imanangel: :skeptical:
Wow! She's really keeping herself very busy (there's still HCL supp class after school today...)

Guys, my gal seems to have great difficulty in English and HMT compre. Any suggestion on how to improve ? For English, though she gets the points correct, the entire question is given zero marks cos of the way she answer. Anyone with such experience ? E.g. What caused him to fall ? Teacher expects the answer to be, the tripping over the stone caused him to fall. Child answer - He tripped over a stone and fell. The question is totally marked wrong.. :slapshead:
:grphug:
Hi, I think this is a common problem with the languages nowadays. My dd also told me she failed her compre OE & she didn't understand the HCL compre as she was completely lost with the words just swimming in front of her eyes (dunno the marks yet).
We need to do the papers analysis when she brings them back after the teachers go through them. I suspect she made the same type of mistake as your dd, not answering to the point. I think English is not so straight forward anymore. They probably want you to show that you understand the nuances of the questions & marking is very strict. For CL, the kids need to 多听 多读 多写,which my dd has never felt inclined to do so... hope this is a wake-up call to her...
Good luck! -
dd ranks the level of difficulty for this SA as follows:
EL - most difficult
Maths
CL
Sci
HCL
i found it a bit strange as dd finds HCL not as difficult as CL..... :? -
ds tells me the same thing after every exams. He always find Chinese very difficult, the rest easy.
He does fairly well for eng, Maths & science but just pass in Chinese. This is the main reason why I am planning to ask him to try for DSA. His T-score will be greatly affected by Chinese

Is it according to her results? Yet to hear my gal's take on her exams (as she has not received all the papers) but my feeling is top on the list is the languages for her. Maths is the easiest (she said so immediately after the exam & results proved so). -

same here.sci haven't yet come.He felt the papers were easy but marks not proving for maths cos careless mistakes in sec A&B.Haven't received the papers. He said he didn't understand a word in a close passage in Tamil.I guess he lost more marks in it.ds tells me the same thing after every exams. He always find Chinese very difficult, the rest easy.

DSA is not easy as well. -
Results got back…bad…not to expectations. HCL fail.
All only A not even A star. This Thursday PTM. All comments repeated every year ,‘yr kid is intelligent, talkative, he can excel if he focus.’ I wonder does the teacher know how to unleash my kid’s potential or not.
June holidays have to go for acupuncture session on my kid’s head liao. -
Got dd's results too. So disappointed with her maths results, dropped by 20 marks compared to last SA2. :yikes: (Her school did not have CA1). She spent most of her time on Maths but still .....

Same same, sch no CA1. Maths drop to low A. Try harder next term on area, perimeter, should at least boost the confidence. May be my kid is not intelligent after all.
