MMM:
This is certainly good news. But I was just wondering why earlier in this link if you move backward to read one post, it mentioned that the statutory declaration was rejected even though the child in full day CC and taken care by grandparents.Ok. kaypoh me as I've a nephew in the same situation who is registering this year.
I actually called MOE customer service and enquired about the specific situation where the child is in full day child care and taken care of grandparents in the evening.
They said the child is still eligible for statutory declartion so long as the grandparents is taking care of the child on a full time basis (I specifically clarified that child is in full time cc) and they said yes even though child is in full day cc, so long as being taken care of full time, they qualify. Key thing is grand parent is not employed.
For those in this situation, you might want to call MOE directly to clarify rather than speculating here. -
MMM:
Don't call. Email them instead so that you get it in black and white.

I called MOE yesterday and was told that recent employment letter has to be endorsed within this year! HR need to prepare recent employment letter for you if you are one of those using statutory declaration.
It’s not on the spot approval at MOE for statutory declaration too. They will post to us.
Can anyone share what I heard from them is what you heard from them too? -

I'm staying with my mum who is taking care of my kids (also the same address of my NRIC). Due to this, I'm most likely going to enroll my DS to a neighborhood school near my address, will it post any problem since my hb's address is different? I know father's address will usually be used if we have 2 different addresses. Anyone know? -
Hope this answers your question.

Here’s a quick guide to what to expect for statutory declaration. Go to MOE pick up statutory declaration form, fill up form, take queue number, get ready original and necessary documents. Note: the recent employment letter has to be dated within this year and HR has to state on a simple recent employment letter that the employee is working FULL-TIME in the company. Both parents original OC, caregiver original IC, BC to prove relationship of the parent and caregiver. Then one by one will get called into room to be questioned. No 2 people are allowed in the room at a time. If the parent enters the room to declare first, the caregiver will be outside the room. The parent will take oath to declare and may be asked a few questions. After that, parent exits and caregiver enters room to take oath to declare and be questioned if necessary. The officer will key the necessary info into system for Pri 1 registration for statutory declaration. (note: only 1 parent that is directly related to caregiver is needed to be present for statutory declaration.
Hint: As long as fulfil all the criteria needed for statutory declaration, please do not go give extra details yourself if officers never question you or caregiver.
Hope this helps those who are genuinely using statutory declaration to get the child into a good school of choice.
If the parents made statutory declaration and later decide not to use that to get child into school, the parent does not need to go MOE to void the statutory declaration.
All the above info was provided by MOE customer officer prior to me going down to do statutory declaration. -
Hi
I have a letter from HR but full time is not indicated? Will that b sufficient? -
KiddyLow:
I heard the MOE officer stressing the word FULL-TIME. If the working hours are stated like 9am to 6pm, they should know it is full time right? But to be on safe side, better ask them to add in the word Full-time employee since which year. I think that is a safer bet.Hi
