MathsSparks,
thanks for the link. Very useful and informative. -
You’re welcome, lovingmum. A lot of other schools also have such briefing notes all over the net.

No, he was 10, the youngest SNYO can take. Clarinet. He was doing grade 8. But he also stopped playing already leh... now don't even play twinkle twinkle little stars. He is into guitar now. Jamming with his primary school friends...2ppaamm:
Sorry if I recall these facts wrongly, it was 6 years ago when my kid was in SNYO. May have changed now...
Your boy is now 15years old. The pianist? So he was in SNYO when 6 years ago, when he was 9??? Wah, Pro! They accept so young, ah? What instrument he played there? Cannot be piano, right? -

Aha! I just found the CCA. She was asked to audition for choir as the pianist... never knew there's such a CCA. We thought it is great! Even if that is more practise, I think she will not dread it. Just to let you guys know there's this as well.
Tried that already. My older daughter was in the same shoes. For some reason, the school values attendance over results. So for this daughter, I'm trying to do something more creative. Gain competition points and participation points from different CCAs. That's why I'm looking for the least siong CCA.yeeling:
Talk to the school! In her case, I believe she can be exempted from taking other CCA in school.
My girls primary school doing so for sports. Only need a letter from the coach, club or prove of competition representation and they will add that commitment into her report book.
Just that someone got to keep her record properly and submit to the school to claim the points. -
:congrats: 2ppaamm, and she's doing wat she enjoys!

:thankyou: now I will hear even more of her in the house!:congrats: 2ppaamm, and she's doing wat she enjoys!

Not necessarily a CCA on it's own with most schools. Eg. the pianist in my dd's sch choir, she is an MEP student with voice as her 2nd instrument and has an advanced abrsm grade in voice too. They don't always use a pianist anyway, since the choir often sings acapella. And for important events like SYF, this \"pianist\" would sing, not be the pianist. Pianists(or rather accompanists) are engaged instead. So she is actually in choir, and not the accompanist for the choir.

O... I'd better tell her. But I think she'd be ok. She spent 5 years in the primary school choir. Thanks for telling me, didn't know this. :thankyou:
