I'll be registering my kid to primary sch in year 2009, for 2010 enrolment. I'm currently staying in a private property within 1km to the primary school of choice.
However, I'm contemplating buying a resale HDB flat (a 2nd house) that is near to my in-laws (so tat my kid could stay with them after sch) but their location is almost 2km to the primary school of choice.
If I buy an HDB resale flat near my in-laws now, can I register my kid with my private property address (IC address showing my private property address as well) which is within 1km from the school ?
Does anyone know if it's a must to register with an address that I am currently staying ? Both addresses belong to me .... -

Hi all ... Anyone has any idea if our IC must reflect the HDB address if we possess both HDB or private property ? Is it illegal to register Pri 1 enrolment with a private property address (nearer to sch) when we're physically staying at the HDB address ?
Hope that someone could help to shed some light.... -

1. The address in the NRIC must reflect your current \"permanent\" home address. It is a statutory requirement, and has nothing to do with MoE.
2. The school will use the address stated in your NRIC as a basis for priority registration based on distance to the school. It is assumed that the child is staying with you at that address. Nothing stops you from making other arrangements subsequent to reqistration - neither the school nor MOE has resources to check on each and every student for compliance... just don't get famous. -
Thks, Chief Kiasu !
So technically, the home-sch distance is based on IC address at pt of registration & IC should reflect \"permanent\" home address. -
My mum is staying within walking distance to Fairfield Methodist. What if I change my IC address to my mum’s place…will that solve the prob in my son getting a place in the school ?
2) Also, If we change our address at police post, do we need to produce any bills or anything ?
3) Can I change back the IC address after my child starts P1 ?
4) Does my hubby have to change his IC also ? -

NRO has tightened its rules regardind address changing since June 2008. You will need to produce phone/utilities bills that reflect your current address. That is to confirm that you are staying with your mum.My mum is staying within walking distance to Fairfield Methodist. Your registration priority is considered to be 1-2km even if your mum is staying right next to the school.
Only 1 NRIC is required. -

Fairfield Methodist had come to a saturation point where at Phase 2C only 1 Km would conduct balloting. So in summary if you are beyond 1Km from Fairfield Methodist, it would be wise to target other primary school. -
OHH My mum place within walking dist lah…then does it mean that if within 1 km …sure can get in ??
How popular is Fairfield ?
Also, when Phase 2c is carried out,is there a timing where what time the parents must be in the school… -
even though your parents are staying within 1km, you are not allowed to register under Phase 2C within 1km, your application will fall on Phase 2C within 1-2km for registering under Grandparent’s Address.
