Did the doctor give ribavirin or similar antiviral? If you are using the cream to apply on the red spots, use cotton and change the cotton wools more often. The liquid part is highly infectious and it spreads. ask him not to scratch. Drinking plenty of water is good. Tender coconut is good too.Supp classes are cancelled and doc has just certified DS with chicken pox! He is going to miss more lessons when school reopens!

On the bright side, we count our blessings at least it is not during PSLE period.
His outbreak is mild at this moment. I have no experience dealing with chicken pox, how can I help him to recover faster?
Last time, my DD recovered in a week (we went to see the doctor when the first boil like reddish thing appeared). We used ribavirin but my sister said it is good to recover naturally without using the antivirals; then the immunity will be better.
Wishing him a speedy recovery. -

Thanks! The doc was comtemplating whether to give but because he has no fever, doc decided that we can go back to him only when circumstances require.

take care. -

Both DS have vaccinations and they still got it. I just hope the eruption is not serious.

We also spread neem leaves around. If you have, you can try it. -

Both DS have vaccinations and they still got it. I just hope the eruption is not serious.[/quote]My son got it last year although he also had vaccination. We put calamine lotion too. He only had a few blisters and none of them left marks. I was very strict on the food. I cannot remember exactly but I remember no seafood and no sauce in dark colour so the blisters won't leave dark marks (that was my mum's advice. I don't know whether it is logical or not but I just followed the advice for fear of blister scars). I think I cooked pork porridge everyday. Maybe the mummies here can advice on the diet. Please ask your DSs not to scratch the blisters.

Wish your boys recover quickly.
In our family, only hubby has caught chicken pox - during his NS days. -
Is it advisable to go for vaccination now if DS hasn’t got chicken pox before?
How about flu vaccine?
Any side effects of these vaccinations, as in do they get sick for a few days after that? -
Stupid me, the above posts reminded me that it didn’t occur to me to vaccinate him (he had 1 few years back but I heard they expire?) during the hols…
