:faint: like that how to try...but I think I will have to selectively try now since the list has grown...chix rice very fattening for the heart.. Thanks so much Zack, now I know when it comes to food, who are the people to call on for recommendations.

A good gauge would be those with waist size 38 and above :!:

Hi hi,
Regarding ABC mkt, it depends on whether you are looking for bak cham kai or the roasted meats. If the former, then the stall is called Tong Feng Fa. Quite tasty but a little on the salty side.
Personally I prefer the roasted meats stall (near POSB ATM) . Think it's Fatty Cheong /Fei Zai Cheong or something. You will see a sticker that it's recommended by the blogger from ieatishootipost.
The roasted duck, xiu york and char xiu are to-die-for type. Char xiu has the right combination of fat and lean meat roasted ala hongkong style ie it is not the pink/red lame variety used by those chef wannabes. Believe they also have xi yau kai (soya sauce chix) but I have never tried it
So far, it's been char xiu/xiu yok combo for me. Simply love at 1st bite and then no other char xius would do for me.
hmmm... thinking about it makes my mouth water again. Yumz

... The other one that I love equally is Fei Zai Weng at Redhill Hawker Ctr near to Redhill MRT... I usually ask for char siew \"long\" aka \"chao tar\" aka burnt portion

All these Boon Tong Kee stalls are francise or all run by the same boss ?
-
apparently not although I must say that quality at BTK not very consistent.
This is their website http://www.boontongkee.com.sg/restprofilemain.htm -
I saty very near to ABC mkt but still prefer the chicken rice stall from Thomson Rd & 津津 or 逸群opp Bras Basah.

Between Boon Tong Kee and Five Star Chicken... I prefer the latter, cos the rice is less oily... But I do like Boon Tong Kee's chicken porridge though
For those working around Lau Pa Sat... Can try to go to Shenton House instead, take the escalator up to the 2nd floor, turn right, just after the pharmacy on the left is an eating place that serves chicken rice, they have white, roasted, fried chicken cutlet rice. They fry their chicken cutlet again so it is served hot
I tried their white and black chicken rice for the first time yesterday, overall I find their chicken rice flavourful. Must try there is their fried tofu dish ($3), they prepare and fry the tofu only when you order, so it is hot and tasty :celebrate: -
