All About Full-Time Maids

All I heard was maid supposed to go back but suddenly told employer that she doesn't want to return as she has registered her marriage with her boyfriend here. Employer was shocked!!

To my understanding, anyone with WP esp domestic maid cannot register her marriage here. Is that true? You would have deemed to have fault the WP rules isn't it?

This is crazy. I am paranoid about maids after hearing all this. I have to hire one by next month. I have no idea which agency & which nationality maid.

oh… my relatives mynmar maid went serious with a mynmar marine worker, got herself pregnant and was advised to register her marriage since she had always wanted to start a family and they did, sheheld a traditional wedding reception in spore and went back home after 3 months as she had to train the new maid.
Her marriage registration is legal here and she married her own kind, but unfortunately registration here not accepted in mynmar.

I think the ruling is that they need MOM permission to marry a Singaporean but I don’t think it specifically says anything about marrying other nationalities.

But with WP as a domestic worker?

So as long as you don't marry Singaporean, you can get married here with any permits?

Hm.... Then domestic worker is getting a real good deal here, can marry any other nationality then work/stay n eat at employers home and their husbands can live at their own quarters. They'll meet everyweek if not, everynight after work. No overhead expenses. :roll:

Hey guys, I had contacted an agency to hire a New Philipino maid, they had given me their numbers & asked me to call myself. Its a bit weird isnt it, plus their fee is about $1600++ all in. Any suggestions??

This is so inconvenient that the agent asked me to call them myself. I'm assuming once I've confirmed a maid with them, if I have problems they may not assist me as well. Bad first impression... Thank god. I'm liaising with another agent. Shelly from HireStrategy. She is really helpful & patient. She has been following up with me regularly. This agency was introduced by a friend.
