Another mum here, mrswongtuition, she has posted some good tips on how she help her secondary school sister on this. I cannot remember which thread is it in, will try to search through. mrswongtuition, are you around ???? Help ! 😄

Our job is to teach them how to manage time properly, set priorities right and plan their work. dd has a notebook that keeps record of all the homework to be done, things to be done, upcoming activities. That is her \"bible\", she even carry it everywhere she goes.

It takes time to learn, so be patience .....

Agree totally with daisyt! my son has the same \"bible\" book (he was Sec 1 last year) and I would say that was the most important time management tool for him.

Me too, sometimes would get conflicts although I know, sometimes I am too much. One day, I don't know what happen to me ... after some arguement, dd asked me \"Whats the problem with you, mummy? I think better ask daddy to block kiasuparents forum.\" (She knows I am in this forum and read too much kiasu stuffs) 😄 😄  OK lor, although I am a mum, I am still a normal human, right. But have to keep telling myself to relax ......

Can the sch handbook serve as the 'bible' book? Or must get a separate diary?

It's the same. But if the school handbook is too big, you may consider getting a smaller one.

Great that you opened up the thread again, daisyt. I read what you went through last year with your sec 1 child. It took a bit of time adjusting to my ds secondary schedule. cca gave the most headache as i was concerned that ds wouldn’t get into anything that would tire him so. things have settled somewhat and ds is happy in his new school. time management is something i have to tweak on as ds is not good in it at all. i have to prod and remind him all the time. leave him alone and he’ll be playing with his pencil/ eraser and make playthings out of them! when i normally make him sleep by 9 - 9.30, he now sleeps at 10 pm as some days there’s still work/project to finish. will it get better as they move along? they seem to have less free time than ever…

hi prancingpony, don't mention, you are welcome. Glad to see your ds is happy in his new school. I don't see any better in sleeping time, in fact, its more or less about 10+ or 11. Her seniors told her, when they get to higher level, they will sleep even later.

Less free time, not getting any better too. Usually the first 2 weeks of school are fine but after that, back to hectic and busy schedule.
