Hello, need advise between CHIJ OLN and Horizon.

Which one better if have the same chance to enter?
      Thanks!

CHIJ OLN 2011 PSLE results here :-
      http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=29025&start=30

      ( I do not have 2012 results)

to obtain the same year results from Horizon primary -
email to Horizon, request for psle results and compare.
from there, you should be able to conclude academic wise, which is a better school ?

(appreciate if you let us know yr findings, so that other parents can benefit too. Thank you)

Horizon is just started few years back, the highest now is still P5 thus no PSLE result yet.

I am cracking my head to choose between Horizon and CHIJ since we will have the same chance to get into both....
      🤷

        Hi Kokoon
Points u can consider beside grades. Do you mean both same chance to get in phase 2B?
        1) all girls at home, can go CHIJ? If u hv another son can consider Horizon.
        2) distance? bus fare can be up to $150/mth for CHIJ
        3) after school care, CHIJ doesn't have in-hse after sch care but horizon doesnt guarantee a place either.
        4) CHIJ being a govt aided sch, the enrichment, CCa classes are not heavily subsidies. Ms Saw mentioned during the mini open hse that some parents asked why is it so ex... She shared \"put your child in a neighbourhood sch if all these cost are a factor\"

Horizon open hse on 13 Jul. You can go take a look at how the principal talks abt the sch. Personally I like CHiJ new principal Ms. Saw more than horizon's Mrs Ang.

Is it a norm now that the teachers will update parents via email quite frequently on upcoming test, spelling and etc? My colleague is very impressed with his child’s teacher at BPPS. Another friend’s child is in another popular pri sch in Toa Payoh and is having similar teacher-parent communication also.

I am curious is this kind of teacher-parent communication only available in those popular sch?

All schools are good schools. Some schools much better than others. :rotflmao: Actually teachers are most important!

it’s not the school…it is the principal and the teachers who play a BIG part.

the principal’s personality play a big part.

                      Hi Janet,

What kind of personality should we look out for... Strict yet passionate?

yes, compassionate which means having a kind heart for teachers and students...and being firm.

a school is different from a company. if a compassionate principal runs the school, somehow teachers are 'moulded' with the same mentality.
