Thank you for the opinion and advice on the amount of past year papers. DH has been sick for the past 1 week so we've been busy (visits to doctor, blood test, etc).

DS also got swollen eyes on Sunday. Doctor said it is delayed reaction due to haze as PM2.5 was still lingering. We were surprised that we only needed to pay $5 for DS's consultation and medicine. The clinic said they will claim the rest from govt 😄 If I remember correctly, govt is subsidizing $30 for haze related illnesses.

oh dear, you must be super busy with sick hubby and son.
      take care of yourself too.

long weekend (monday being school holiday)...get more rest and hope all is well soon. :hugs:

Is Monday school holiday? DS already got schedule for this term but no mention about Monday holiday :? Is it compulsory holiday for all schools? I wonder whether his school is so kiasu that they are making P6 to go to school on Monday.

My DD has been very weak in her science since p3 & got botherline pass since p5. She is currently having one-to-one tuition but i find that it doesn't help. She is weak in science knowledge so even MCQ can't do.

PSLE is just 2mths down the road & i am very worried. Do you think i should change the tutor or just leave it since left 2mths only.

Can someone pls advise as i am feeling down & worry. What should l do with her now as i have little knowledge on science. :stupid:
The current 1-1 tutor is unable to tell you what the prob is? Is the tutor highly recommended by sb or has good track records?

If I am in your shoes n my child is unable to do MCQ correctly, I would be very worried too and would hv fired the tutor long ago.

Where are you staying? Can u send your child to a reputable tuition centre with good track records?

DS got a lot of homework from school and he said starting next week the supplementary lessons will be 4 days a week :faint: One of them is actually Chinese's teacher own initiative so other classes may not have. I am glad that his Chinese teacher is kiasu 😉
Take care! With prelim oral just round the corner, kids falling sick is doubly worrying.

                  Science MCQ questions are tricky.

Really need to understand the concepts behind each topic and know how to apply to our real life.
I gave wrong answers to my DD when she was in P3, which made me realise that we cannot use layman’s thinking or words to answer the questions.
Kids are expected to process and infer the results from the "experiments on paper" (quite difficult if they have not done hands-on with it).
What is pain if one has not experienced it? What is hot if you never touch a hot cup of drink?
Maybe you should go through all the topics with your kid and emphasise the main concepts and keywords before trying the test papers.
My DD’s tutor is very experienced in P5-6, you can pm me if you are interested.

The haze really brings lots of problem to us. Hope it will be gone forever.

My DD had PSLE stress towards the last few months of her PSLE last year and had headache very frequently.
Besides giving her healthy food with occasional treats of titbits, I tried to reduce her stress by reducing mine first. Our stress will add on to theirs.
I reduced my expectation and stopped \"nagging\" at her to study a few weeks before.
Let's give them a pat or hug that we believe in them and love them forever. :grphug:
Now, Sec 1 stress ... teens' mood swing -- stress.
There is no ending to stress, so let's learn to manage stress well.
All the best to PSLE students and their parents (parents here are also sitting for PSLE!).
Kids take one PSLE, parents with more than 1 kid, take more PSLE!
It doesn't get easier with the 2nd kid as MOE changes syllabus every now and then. Sigh! Parents have to learn again!

My DD was with this tutor for half a year already through the recommendation from one parent from ksp forum with many parents asking for the contact. However, is very subjective, my DD doesn't benefit. Since she is weak that why i choose a private tutor.

Now i am headache & worry. 2mths left. :stompfeet:
