                  Three questions:
                  1. How enjoyable are the lessons? => my son gave rating of 9/10 when I asked him just now

                  2. How effective it is in building interest? => very effective for my son's case (systematic approach, good quality teachers (credentials in website), lessons are varied, no homework, no rote learning, no memorising of creative phrases nor bombastic words, focus is on building foundation, originality & love for the language.)

                  3. How effective is it overall? => Very good PSLE track record for the last 2 years (95% A/A* for PSLE 2012, with around 40% A* (out of around 30 graduating students))

Cons - As they don't focus on memorising/rote learning, their approach will take a longer time to see results (my son made visible improvement only after 1-2 yrs but he got there eventually!)

Pros - Teachers are able to encourage and nurture. I met some parents recently who told me their dyslexic kids were very much motivated by the teachers there.

My caveat is no matter what, we parents still have to run thru the week's lesson with our kids so as to reinforce the knowledge being imparted. Think it is the same with other good enrichment ctrs as well.

I see. I know that competitive training regime is mentally and physically tough. JY told me her dd used to wake up at 5am (a few times a week) to go for morning training. 😓

Please don’t take my words out of context. I said its a waste of time with respect to the recognition and support given by the school for swimming - they don’t recognize it as a CCA and did nothing to honor medal winners in the past. If you are not a medal winner, it is much harder to use swimming as DsA. Which of these statements are inaccurate? Would parents of any SNAG medal winners speak up if their kids have been so honored? Competitive swimming is tough. It’s a great sport and the kids give far more of themselves than many others. It would be great if the school could be far more supportive. I would be the last to say anything to denigrate the swimmers themselves, but how many of these finalists would attribute their achievements over the past 2 days to the support given by teachers of PHPPs? Like I said, silver lining is that some kids have training outside and could make it, but they are very few. It’s great that PHPPS has some. They should do much more to encourage them! Not sure if anyone noticed, bualavert fr the P5, the P2, P3 girls are indiv age group champs in their respective events based on timing.

I had a chat with one of the teachers yesterday and am quite impressed with their approach. Your feedback gives me more confidence. I will remember your caveats too. Thank you .
