      Hi,

just need some advice. My Boy is rather weak in math.
He having a group tution now for his 3 subjects.

I was wondering for him that weak in math, should we go for one to one tuition for math or continue as group tuition.

      thanks

      Hi einleda,

Is there any improvement after attending the group tuition?

First, before making any change, I suggest we can first find out what works and does not work for your son.

The reason is going for one to one tuition is based on the assumption that you can find one tutor who can connect with your child and can engage him. I know some group tutors/ teachers can engage the kids effectively even at group level.

So first, find out what's your child's preference? What's the feedback given by the tutor? Does your child ask question? How often? And what kind fo follow up and tracking system does the tutor use? Does your tutor update you? And how do you know if your child is benefitting/ not benefitting?

There are many areas to explore....

      Hope this helps...

      John

          Hi optipooh,

          Welcome to KSP!

What kind of help do you need for your child?
Is it on building foundation? Is it coaching him on problem solving skills? Is it on helping him to find back his confidence?

From my experience, it can really help the kid progress much faster if we know what exactly he needs... 😃

          John

                        Hi,

I heard some children has learning disability in math.
Your friend might want to send him to psychologist to check.

I extract one sentence for the a link:

Dyscalculia is a mathematical disability. This causes problems with solving maths problems and understanding maths concepts.

                        Another link on Math disability:

My P4 son is having very big problem on his Math. Only 2/30 for his Section C SA2 paper even with one to one tutor coaching. Very worry about him. If i am to bring to psychologist check any recommendation which hospital to bring him to? The tutor focus mainly on problem sum on him and this is the result he gets and he will have big problem next year. Does anyone has any tutor to recommand? Thanks.
