Question:
Does anyone have any place to recommend for a one month stay in central Switzerland? -
Whenever we are planning for traveling any country with our family and specially with kids then we have to make sure all things were perfect from our flights tickets booking to accommodation, convenience and many basic things which we required there like clothes according to weather there. Switzerland’s climate is ideal, with no excessive heat, cold or humidity which is best thing for kids. It has one of the lowest crime rates of all industrialized countries again which is best in all manner. Switzerland is such a very beautiful country.

Hi Buddy, managed to dig out my age-old album and have the itinerary attached inside plus diary of each day. Those were the days when I could afford to be so neat-freak.

Hi Buddy, can share with me your itinerary? Am thinking of going either there or Chamonix in June... don't know where one is better?
Let me dig for my softcopy, if not gotta scan in the hardcopy for you...just gotta be patient with me for a while.....
Already PM-ed you the itinerary in 4 parts of the photos I took of the itinerary, hope you can see them clearly.
Have a great holiday! Weather at that time I went, July was hot but not humid...[/quote]Hi can Pm me the itinerary as well thinking of going next year free and easy. thanks. -
For the pass few days I was researching about going to Switzerland for a Holiday....next year during June 2014
Seem that Switzerland is a wonderful country to visit....
Transited in Switzerland 15 years ago when going to Austria for work...
So did not really get to tour this country...
After much research using Guide Books /Internet/youtube video clips ...I have a clearer picture on how to make my Switzerland holiday fun and relaxing. :rahrah:
Will just cover the Centre of Switzerland Area- Zurich/Lucerne/Interlaken/ Montreux/Geneva/Paris
A)In Lucerne will cover Mt Titlis /city tour (plan to stay 2 nights)
B)Then proceed to Interlaken (stay 3 nights) to cover
a)Jangfraujoch -to enjoy the Snow Fun activities up the Alps -skiing, snowtubing, Zip Flying ,Paragliding
b)River Rides
C)Then proceed to Montreux -to take the Chocolate Train Ride...(1 night)
D)Leave Switzerland to Paris by TGV
After calculation I think I will get a Swiss Half Fare Care when I arrived in Zurich.
And also a Family Card so that my younger Daughter will travel for free in Switzerland. My Elder Daughter will use the Swiss Youth Card .
This is my planning for now...still researching since I have more than 9 months to prepare this trip.... :xedfingers:

I am thinking of going to Switzerland next year for 10 days with 2A2C. We have no intention to drive and thinking of taking public transport or join some tour when reach there.
Can you advise me should i go 8 days or 10 days and also the itinerary? Or is there any members here who have done F&E before and I can follow your itinerary or any blog for me to read? I know nothing about Switzerland. I would love to see snow.
Many thanks. -

Your above itinerary is based on how many days? How do you travel to the destination?
Many thanks. -
Hi Happydl,
After researching on touring Switzerland by rail , seem quite easy.
Initially , when I was gathering information on Switzerland it was rather confusing....but now I have a clear picture.
Switzerland is not very big, unlike USA , their Railway traveling system is very perfect. :salute:
Switzerland is made up of many States which they refer as Canton.
Their Swiss Railways pass by all the Cantons ...which is very Good.
Every Canton is made of Villages surrounded by Mountains/Alps/Lakes.
They have their own private trains/Gondola up the mountains
Now after gathering much information , I think we will take 8 days to Tour Switzerland:
a)Arrive in Zurich take train to Lucerne
b)Lucerne Stay 2 nights
1 day to do Mt Titlis
1day to do City tour in Lucerne
c)Depart for Lucerne by Train to Interlaken
Will Use Interlaken as a Base for all the Day Trips (so I think 6 days should be enough)
I hate changing Hotels every night , like those Package Tour....so I always use a place as a Base. I found that Interlaken is a Good Base to travel to all the attractions by Rail.
But there are people who commented that Interlaken is too noisy , too many tourist buses. So there will be recommendation to stay in the Village away from Crowds...
But as a City Person , I think I would not like to be totally cut off from the crowds during the night....
Interlaken to many attractions take less than 3 hours to reach by Rail. But there will be changing of Trains to get to the Final Attractions.
And many kind TripAdvisors also commented that Mountain Trips are very unpredictable ...so it is better to check their Webcam before Departure.
So each Day I will set out early from Interlaken to attractions like:
a)Zermatt to view Matterhorn
b)Jungfrau -Snow Activities/Hang Gliding/Paragliding
c)Gruyere -For Chocolate and Cheese Factory and Castle visit
d)Leukerbad -Thermal Spa(Hot Springs)
So I think to cater 6 Days for above attractions should be good enough. When the Mountain weather is not clear , I will go to Leukerbad or Gruyere...and so on..
So I hope my Switzerland holiday will be a Trip not binded by trying to meet time /weather constraints...
Happy Planning. :xedfingers: -
