Cumulative take up rates till Phase 2A(1)

Henry Park -75%
Ai Tong -75%
CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' -72%
Nanyang Primary -70%

This is scary!!
Got a feeling these 4 schools will be fully taken up at Phase 2A(2)

These schools will be filled with alumni from all over Singapore while the kids staying next to the school have to travel out of their zone.

Actually on hindsight, its not really good to buy near these super popular schools. May end up \"can see cannot touch\".
🤷
Ha ha! \"can see cannot touch\" - sadly true. For NYPS, I reckon there should be 32 places or so left after 2A.

The point you make about travelling all over Singapore is the unintended consequence of this system - those living within 1km still struggle to get in. You only need to see the traffic reduction when school holidays start to realise this is a real economic cost to Singapore - every day jams from 7-8am. At NYPS, around 80% of the children now live > 2km from the school.

NYPS expecting some 80-90 children registering for p2a2. by then, they only left with 20 seats max. really can see cannot touch 😞

These rates are ridiculous. If the system don’t change, by the next generation, owning a property within 1km of these schools also no use, coz there will, ZERO places for 2C.

And NYPS should privatize and charge full cost of $30k per year like United World College… 80% live >2km!!??? It is not serving the neighborhood any more! and yes, the hdb flats at Farrer Rd are within 1km

hi parents …

do you all think it’s better to enroll in
a) henry park
( pm classes , the so called popular school)
or
b) Alexandra primary (am classes, brand new school, and only have primary 1 classes in 2014)?
:scared: Can I check if anyone has the stats between 2A1 and 2A2 for aitong? With only 83 places left for 2A2, not sure if aitong may need to ballot in P2A2. In fact, this year figure seems to be totally not in line with past few years, also don't know how to predict. :scared:

I was looking for that information, but not sure where to obtain that. So last year, I pay to join the Alumni in order to get 2A1. Relieve me of the stress.
The way I see, by phase 2B, Ai Tong will need ballot.

Hi,

Let me try,
1) Aitong 2012 after Phase 2(A1+A2) TUR is 87%.
2) Aitong 2012 After Phase 2A1 TUR is 63%
Therefore meaning, Phase 2A2 is = 87%-63%= 24%= 24%X 330= 80 slots.

Since currently 2013 Phase 2A1 TUR is already 75%, if we assume using past year data. It might turn out that there won't be any chance of even Phase 2B at all and even balloting at Phase 2A2. Of course we can also assume that as Kiasu parents, all those 2A2 \"upgrade\" themselves to 2A1 this year.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Cheers.
That's a very logical induction. But where did you get the figure of 2A1% last year? And does anyone has past years so we can see the trends? Thanks

Sigh, this Year really very hard to predict. Nan Hua Pri is so different from past yrs. Previously the difference will not be too much, unlike this yr, such a huge jump. Btw, anyone has any idea which student services centre to recommend in Clementi Ave 3 area?

Oh, st hildas already take up 60%.

If I register under phase 2B, staying within 1 KM, will balloting occur?
