All About Life Without Maids

Fairy:
No wonder my white towels turning grey. Thanks for the tip!I'm very fussy about mixing. The whites won't retain its whiteness for long if you mix it with other colours. I don't mix towels with clothes, especially the dark coloured ones. The 'hairs' from the towels will be all over the clothes if you wash them in the same load. Every time I change bedsheets, bolster & pillow cases, I do so for all the beds. Therefore, this alone is usually more than a load. Toilet/bath mats - I stopped using them after I'm maidless. We used to hand wash these. So, to save myself the unpleasant job, I started using rags (old T-shirts/towels) as bath mats. Just use & throw.
I threw away the toilet-bowl brush after my maid has left as I can't bring myself to use it because using it means I have to wash the brush after use! :!:
I pour clorine-based toilet bowl detergent after every use and use high power water-jet to spray at the toilet bowl.
In this way, I try to keep it as clean as possible to avoid having to physically brush it. I also keep used toothbrushes handy. In instances when I really need to give it a brush, I used the recycled toothbrushes & immediately disposed them - more hygienic.
About throwing toilet bowl brush,..actually I’ve been feeling embarrassed to ask . When you and the rest of the ladies over here took over the chores from your ex-maid, did you ladies throw away a lot of things? I threw away a lot because I felt yucky using these things after being used by maid. These things were brand new when she started using them. I hope I’m not being wasteful. The things that I threw away were all the cloths for kitchen and her bathroom, brushes, vacuum, iron, washer, pots and pans.
I use Toilet Magiclean for my toilet bowl. Just squeeze around the inner bowl and leave for overnight. No need brushing. And I use Magiclean Stain&Mold for the corners of my shower area. Stains dissolved and no need brushing. I don’t want to wash brushes. :!: -

Mocharita, remember daisyt mentioned she uses the quick30, it means even if you do 3 loads a day, it will only take 1.5 hours. Don't use longer ones e.g. 3 hours, otherwise, you will do laundry the whole day.
Will the washer spoils if I don't put enough load in it? -
Hi everyone! Eventhough I have a maid and will be changing one soon, I still find this thread useful because I can pick some housework tips which I can also use to train my new maid.
Anyone knows of any cheap solution to clean bathroom floors? Especially the floor tiles where you shower in. It is quite black. I tried using Jif but doesn’t work. I bought a stain remover from DIY/hardware shops but its really expensive for daily use. Please share with me if you have some idea. Thanks! -

I get my helper to use Mr Muscel mold and mildew remover.
She uses it 2 times a week at most, in the shower area cuz we have a dry concept bathroom.
Hope this helps

Hello
Anyone got good tips on how to arrange the cups, bowls, plates which are wet right after washing ?I usually stack them up in tray, and its very messy…any advice?thanks -
Joy:
I put them in a dish drying rack (something like below). To save time and hassle, this is the place where I keep them too, so no need to transfer to another storage placeHello

yup yup. but i get her to use it just for dusting dry stuff. just to remove dust. not exactly 'clean' them. what i mean by this is, let's say, your tv has fingerprints. if i get my daughter to do it with the glove, it won't remove the fingerprints. i have to do it myself for that.Hi flim,
you mean can just wear the gloves and \"wipe\" over the areas to clean ?
Sounds good lei....
I must go look for it in NTUC.
