2ppamm, just to let you know that T-shirts drying on hangers would become misshapened because of gravity and the water. Yes, straighten them, hang them at the middle on the hanger, then when they are dry, flick them out to straighten them further and into the cabinet ๐Ÿ˜‰ they go!

      I still do that :celebrate:
Wah... thanks for that! Saves quite a few shirts there for me!

โ€œWe put our clothings into washing machine every 2 days. I use 30mins quick wash with my washing machine (to save power and water), so before washing, I would soak the soil cloths for overnight.โ€

 Must soak soil clothes for overnight?? I didnโ€™t, I threw everything in the washer. That was what I did during my college year. Threw everything in and slot coins in the machine. Oh dear, silly me.

โ€œFor laundry, I wash the whites, the dark colours, the towels, the bedsheets & school uniforms in separate loads. We changed bedsheets everyweek and bath towels every few days. Sometimes, 2 loads per day also not enough.โ€

Separate laundry?? Oh dear, I threw towels, toilet mat, kitchen towels, clothes..everything in! I thought the washer is good enough for doing the washing. No wonder my ex-maid did 3 loads a day. I thought I had it easy by doing once a day. ๐Ÿ˜‰

โ€œIt also helps if you can plan out a weekly or monthly menu. That way, you do not end up throwing away stuff that has turned bad .... โ€œ

You are right about menu planing. I threw away a lot of veggies this morning. They have turned soggy and watery (yellow liquid, eeiks!). I wore gloves and hold my breath while cleaning up the mess. Lesson learned. Must remember not to over buy, don't want to clean smelly fridge again. ๐Ÿ™

        Thank you all. ๐Ÿ˜„
Mocharita, remember daisyt mentioned she uses the quick30, it means even if you do 3 loads a day, it will only take 1.5 hours. Don't use longer ones e.g. 3 hours, otherwise, you will do laundry the whole day.

          Fairy:
I'm very fussy about mixing. The whites won't retain its whiteness for long if you mix it with other colours. I don't mix towels with clothes, especially the dark coloured ones. The 'hairs' from the towels will be all over the clothes if you wash them in the same load. Every time I change bedsheets, bolster & pillow cases, I do so for all the beds. Therefore, this alone is usually more than a load. Toilet/bath mats - I stopped using them after I'm maidless. We used to hand wash these. So, to save myself the unpleasant job, I started using rags (old T-shirts/towels) as bath mats. Just use & throw.

I threw away the toilet-bowl brush after my maid has left as I can't bring myself to use it because using it means I have to wash the brush after use! :!:
I pour clorine-based toilet bowl detergent after every use and use high power water-jet to spray at the toilet bowl. ๐Ÿ˜„ In this way, I try to keep it as clean as possible to avoid having to physically brush it. I also keep used toothbrushes handy. In instances when I really need to give it a brush, I used the recycled toothbrushes & immediately disposed them - more hygienic.
No wonder my white towels turning grey. Thanks for the tip!

About throwing toilet bowl brush,..actually Iโ€™ve been feeling embarrassed to ask . When you and the rest of the ladies over here took over the chores from your ex-maid, did you ladies throw away a lot of things? I threw away a lot because I felt yucky using these things after being used by maid. These things were brand new when she started using them. I hope Iโ€™m not being wasteful. The things that I threw away were all the cloths for kitchen and her bathroom, brushes, vacuum, iron, washer, pots and pans.

I use Toilet Magiclean for my toilet bowl. Just squeeze around the inner bowl and leave for overnight. No need brushing. And I use Magiclean Stain&Mold for the corners of my shower area. Stains dissolved and no need brushing. I donโ€™t want to wash brushes. :!:

Will the washer spoils if I don't put enough load in it?

Hi everyone! Eventhough I have a maid and will be changing one soon, I still find this thread useful because I can pick some housework tips which I can also use to train my new maid.

Anyone knows of any cheap solution to clean bathroom floors? Especially the floor tiles where you shower in. It is quite black. I tried using Jif but doesnโ€™t work. I bought a stain remover from DIY/hardware shops but its really expensive for daily use. Please share with me if you have some idea. Thanks!

                Hi peapot,

I get my helper to use Mr Muscel mold and mildew remover.

She uses it 2 times a week at most, in the shower area cuz we have a dry concept bathroom.

                Hope this helps ๐Ÿ˜„

I put them in a dish drying rack (something like below). To save time and hassle, this is the place where I keep them too, so no need to transfer to another storage place ๐Ÿ‘…

Eh.... that's what I put too... plates, bowls, cups etc... i have two similar racks at home. One is two-tier, one is single. Sufficient to put commonly used items.
