All About Home Addresses

Thank you - your answer is very clear. In this case, I'm in the clear. We will really be staying at the address but do intend to move out much later when he is in Primary 4 or so to downgrade as I would like to become a part time SAHM so single income definitely need to downgrade. My no 2 son will use sibling to get in to same school so even if we do not stay within 1 KM, no 2 should still be able to get in. Thanks
The MOE put it as the whole period in the FAQ but this is to deter pple from renting then moving away, a short time after the registration period. For genuine cases, schools are understanding enough if you explain to them the reasons for the move should it happen if kid is already in upper primary.Melaniessl:
I had initially heard that Minimim occupation period for distance used to register is first 3 years pri 1 - 3 but you had mentioned entire duration of primary school so just wanted to confirm this. Thank you
You will also not be penalised if you never used the distance priority in any balloting before (meaning no balloting held for that entire Phase).
If your kid had a place through Phase 2B / 2C and there was balloting involved (even if only balloting for kids staying >2km etc), your kid would still have already used the 1km distance as a priority to enter. -
My current ic states that my address is at Teck whye but we hv a 2nd property which my wife is registered on her ic. I am not applying for 2b priority as my son was from a pri school but on 2c to try for a school within a click from my 2nd property. Will there be a problem as I m trying on balot for a school within a click from my private property.

In the event that the address on the NRIC of both parents' are different, then address on the father's NRIC will be used.
do not that all Singapore citizens have to report their change of address and get their NRIC updated to correctly reflect their place of residence within 28 days of the change. See this.
The penalty for not doing so is in Section 13(b) of the National Registration Act::
\"shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both.\"
It's a \"jailable\" offence. So please take care and ask your wife to update her address. -
Hi all
I just paid an booking fee for a HDB resale unit, and the OTP is due to be signed in 14 days time. I will be registering my daughter under Phase 2C
Will MOE base the proximity of the school I choose on my current residence or the "new"residence which I am buying. I do not expect the lease of agreement to be signed anytime now, but at least in 3rd or 4th quarter 2013. -
Dear all,
I am staying within 1km of Maris Stella and plan to register my son under phase 2C in 2014 since I have no affiliation. Based on the past year results, looks like I won’t have any problem getting in. However, there has been so many new properties in this area lately and I’m worried that I might end up having to ballot when my turn comes. What do you think my chances are? Am I right to say that if the legal completion date of the property is later than Dec 2016, it will not affect me?
We qualify for Hong Wen in Phase 2A which will definitely be more secure. But I somehow prefer Maris Stella cos of its affiliation to a secondary sch.
Look forward to some advice.
Thank you. -
Hi all, ive a question… im due to register for 2C, but cos the school’s history has always been very demanding at phase 2C, and only balloting is for <1km. If i ask my mum to declare as caregiver, we will definitely fall under 1-2km, and will not even stand a chance to ballot.
Thus, i wanna know if im still in time to change my IC address to my mum’s house (<1km from the school), at least in event of ballot, i can still get a chance to ballot.
advise really appreciatied!!! Thanks alot! -
It’s my first post on this forum. Need some advice on the registration for P1.
We reside at two locations (location A and B) and both properties are owned by my husband. Our NRICs reflected address our location A.
Location A is within 1km of the school which is our first choice. We are under phase 2B but currently the chance is low.
Location B is within 1km of the school which is our second choice. We will be under phase 2C.
Question: If we cannot get a vacancy under phase 2B, we would like to apply for 2nd choice school within 1km to Location B under phase 2C. Can we change our address on NRIC to the location B which we also stay there? Will there be an issue in the MOE system?
Either schools, we will stay there for good and the other location is a 2nd home (not renting out at all). -

Far-sighted couples should buy matrimonial home near their target school if Phase 1B is introduced as it guarantees the child's admittance to the target schoolhttps://www.facebook.com/hearsay.sg#!/photo.php?fbid=349515055151113&set=a.348690495233569.1073741827.348161838619768&type=1&theater

Once child is registered, the family can shift to a new house beyond the 100m radius and make a capital gain from the sale of their \"good school guaranteed\" house!

I have a question.
My family actually stays in my parents house. I have my own property which is being used to run my business.
For property tax reasons, my IC still states my property address, while my family is under my parent’s address.
I noted that in the event of differing addresses, it was mentioned that they will follow the father’s address? Is it possible to follow the mother’s instead?
Thanks in advance!
