Travel: Japan - Tokyo & Disneyland

I travelled both Delta and United (United last yr December) whatever you do no ticket can be so cheap as to ever travel on either of these airlines. If need be ANA or SQ pricier, but unless you are willing to entertain your kid for 6-9 hours (depending any delays or not), they do not even have an entertainment unit in the back of the head rest for UNITED

My kid couldn't see the monitor above...Lucky we had the Ipad (which might I add ran out of batteries by the time we got there...
Only under duress will I fly again.. The cathay one we also did you are allowed a stop over (either on the way there or back) but the layover in HK coupled with the flight time not advisable unless your kid is a good traveller probably in upper primary..
DS was 4 and both DH and I were exhausted .. ended up sleeping the first day at Tokyo Bay Hilton.. even though we had pre-purchased afternoon tickets for Disneyland..

I tried United Airlines last Dec, if u can try to avoid. They v strict on customs and not allow to lock the bag...but TSA lock no prob..funny rite? double standard.

That is because airport authorities have the master key to open TSA locks. If they open your TSA lock you will know, cos there shd be an indicator on the lock to show you. They won't be able to open a normal lock unless they break it, that's why they don't allow you to lock your bags with a normal lock. So there is really no double standard when they say you can't lock your bag except with TSA lock.

depends whether you and your family have been to other disneyland?

generally, 1 day each.

early dec should be the off-peak period since Japan school holidays only starts in late December. But you may still meet busload of students that are on field trips.

My family went to Disneyland last Dec.

We went DisneySea on a Thurs - morning was not crowded and we could take the rides within 15 mins. After lunch, the crowds came in and got to wait for about 45mins each. So you can try to get the fastpass during lunch time (no fastpass available in the morning when there is no crowd). As such, we played almost all rides except extremely kiddy ones for below 6 yrs old. We only went for one performance cos all spoken in Japanese.
But on Friday when we went to Disneyland, it was crowded when we arrived at 10am. Almost all rides got to queue for about 45-90 mins. We only managed to get 2 rides’ fastpass (there is about 2 hrs time interval before you can get another fastpass). All fastpass given out at 2pm +.

Anyone knows if SIA will be running any promo fares to Tokyo for travel in June? I just checked their fares & they are so high $1200 :?: .


Cheapest is Delta now @ $650+.

MAS is running a promo now @$670, with 1 hour transit time in KL. Touch down Narita in the morning around 7+a.m. similar to SQ which touch down 6plus in the morning.

Hi scary, does the kidzania in tokyo have english staff/speakers?
Thinking of bringing kids in sep, but wondering whether language will be an issue for the kids.

Have you tried legoland in Tokyo too? If I only have time for one, which one would you recommend. Kids are 3 and 5yr.

My boy went when he was 5, again when he was 6. He enjoyed himself very much despite them speaking minimal English 2/3 yrs ago. Some will try to speak simple English but most of the time it's monkey see monkey do. :rotflmao: We went Baby Boss Taipei recently and we still prefer Kidszania Japan.

Some of the occupations may not be suitable for your 3 yr-old as I vaguely remembered they have min height requirement.

We have not tried Legoland Japan but i think it's pretty. Guess i will choose Kidszania over it. My friend brought her kids to KL Kidszania recently and they enjoyed it too!

Please remember to book your tickets online if you decide to go Kidszania Japan. Do book early and for 2 sessions too. Have fun!
