Well, I just counted 153 schools with still at least 100 vacancies, of which 3 are new schools. Looks like there will be enough vacancies for P1, just a matter of which school are parents gunning for. Perhaps 2007 population boom amongst parents of phases 1 and 2A from the popular schools?

Errr, i thought i counted only18 schools being listed as having TUR of more than 75%, this is less than 10% of the total number of schools (190) available for P1 registration. This merely confirms that the locals have a strong preference for certain popular schools. I am not able to relate this to the birth rate issue and also cannot see what should the govt do? Should they \"open\" branches of popular schools just like franchising such as hpps (east), hpps (central) etc?

Even if the popular schools open franchises, pple will still find a way to differentiate them. Like someone once told me she was from Chung Cheng (Main) School and stressed the \"Main\" so forcefully coz she was afraid I would think she came fr the Yishun branch.

Low birth rate only means less pple populate the unpopular schools. The popular ones will still be full.
