Can you request for a change of date for one of them? You prob can't for NUSH bec they only have one date. Not sure about SST. If you really can't change the dates, then decide which school your kid prefers and try out for that one. -
Thanks for such a quick response. Yah, will try to change the dates of SSTβs. Kid expresses a very strong peference for SST because of his perception that SST allows for more hands-on research. The peference is so strong that I am secretly thinking of ways to steer him towards my own reference for DSA entry: SJI or CHS, should the options be laid out before us. From our own asking around, NUSH seems to be criticised as having an environment that is overly competitive, and for potentially restricting the options of the kid, especially when by fifth year, they are dealing with Uni level stuff. On the other hand, SST has no real track record yet, and is not a Integrated Programme, which I supposed is something desirable. There is also the thing that NUSH leads directly to NUS.
-
Is your son trying out for CHS and SJI too? I guess it'll be a happy problem should he be successful in several schools.

-
Hi, yes, we thank our lucky star and our Provider that kid is going for the SJI interview and writing test too in the coming week(s). No news from CHS though.Waiting for some one to share their good news too haha. Gosh, it is so not easy to be parents!

If there is only one choice for DD/DS, you should decide by choosing your desirable end results at end of year 4 for NUSH (Advanced) and Sec 4 G.C.E 'O' for SST
SST Year 4 - what ever hand-on research or practice-oriented curriculum they will still need to prepare for mainstream \"O\" level to join poly or JC
NUSH Y4 - Curriculum and std equivalent to \"A\" level - based on Core subjects - English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology , Computing and Integrated Humanities incl subject like Economics, Music, Arts, Literature etc. For selected students cohorts, there are additional electives (olympiacs) for Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics (computing). In short 4 years of different workloads and committments required for NUSH and SST students.
Year 5/6 are specialisation and research years which determine their Univ careers but some NUSH students also do law, accountancy and other areas other than sciences. NUSH graduates students all do Honours/majors in Maths(compulsory) and 2 or max 3 sciences. Some also major in Arts electives like Music , Arts and Literatures.
NUSH bypass \"O\" and \"A\" level national exams, awarded NUSH High Diploma (with High Distinction, Distinction,. Merit etc) which is recognised by all local universities and oversea reputable univ at Oxford, Cambridge, IVY league in UK,US, Europe, Japan etc. -
