ya, don't think is because of the JC. Hopefully the one that I register don't have to ballot. If ballot, I no chance lesherl:
All the CHIJs so full this year! Could it be because Catholicism seems to be the easiest way via 2b?

It is not that it is the easiest way but most Catholics would like their kids to be immersed in a Catholic environment. Many non-Catholics also like to choose CHIJs (why ah??) hence the tough fight for places...
I don't think its affiliation to Catholic JC is the reason for its popularity. Nothing to shout about. Most of the better students from the convents do not go to Catholic JC.
Anyway, anyone knows the <1km breakdown for the popular convents?

Py85, I’m waiting for 2c for olqp. At least I have a place somewhere else le but I am keen to send to girls’ school and olqp is the only one in the area. U?
Cherrygal, I understand that most Catholics like to go back to catholic schools, but seems like this year’s 2b a bit hotter than previous years? And normally TUR for single gender schools I thought not so much. -
In fact , as at today, only st nick is over subscribed. may be Toa Payoh CHIJ as well. Historically , St Nick is alway very popular bec it is branded and Toa Payoh CHIJ is bec of the new HDB flats and condo around it.
In fact, it is the affiliation to the sec school that some parents are looking for. -
Hi, may I know if anyone has a breadkdown of chongfu’s phase 2b applications to date? Thks

But Phase 2B is not only for Catholics. There are many non-Catholic PVs and Grassroots pple fighting for St Nick's. CHIJ TP will see the fight between Catholics and non-Catholic Grassroots coz no PVs. Yes, many new condos within 1km this year.

Catholic high over subscribed but Maris Stella still has balance of 20 slots . There may be a shift from catholic high to Maris Stella since both schools not too far from each orher. Let observe by end of tomolo. If I m one of them , I will withdraw from Catholic high n apply to Maris Stella.

Yup you are right, I forgot about grassroots as well. But i thought for olqp it should be mostly Catholics coz traditionally the grls in the area would go for schools like bpps.

Actually I wonder if some PRs this year learned from last year and decided to make use of church affiliations or other means to get in earlier coz 2c would be no contest with SCs. But anyway this is only speculation la. -

PRs only have a chance at the not so popular convents. At OLQP, maybe, if there are not so many SCs >2km applying. At St Nick's or CHIJ TP, impossible for PRs.
