Catholic high over subscribed but Maris Stella still has balance of 20 slots . There may be a shift from catholic high to Maris Stella since both schools not too far from each orher. Let observe by end of tomolo. If I m one of them , I will withdraw from Catholic high n apply to Maris Stella.
Yes, Maris Stella is surprisingly quiet this year despite only having 70 places. Some years had 80+ seats and yet required balloting >2km.
:xedfingers: Good luck no matter which school you try! -
sherl:
Previous years only tp and st nicks hot... This year all the ijs are hot! Other than st nicks and tp, the rest of the ijs are not even affliated to very good sec schools leh..
Except for Scgs plus these 2 mission based full schools for girls (mgs, st Nicholas) plus ij (Toa Payoh) :-
If you've a daughter, it is normally easier to enter an all girls school, compared to choosing co-Ed schools (intense competition, bec of the boys) eg: Fairfield Methodist, pei hwa Presbyterian. -

Yes, this is a good move.
Ai tong
21 reg, 7 vacancies ==> fierce competition !
Ie. Out of every 3 kids, only 1 will get in. The other 2 are out.
Catholic high also face intense competition!
38 reg, 26 vacancies
Maris Stellar
49 reg, 70 vacancies ==> still have many seats left !
Ai tong and catholic high most likely will ballot, within 1 km.
if you'd registered in either ai tong or catholic high and staying outside 1 km, you may divert attention to Maris stellar, ie. withdraw and re-apply before 4.30 pm today, if you think you may not be eligible for balloting in either (ai tong or catholic high). Today, go and find out whether you got any chance to ballot, or not first. Maris stellar also have affliated secondary school. -
Yes. For those that are catholic staying > 1 km from maris stella, it is a strategic move from catholic high to Maris Stella . Otherwise if u are not successful at catholic high , then u may not even have chance (>2km) or subject to balloting at 2c (1-2km) at Maris Stella. In future , Maris Stella will definitely be very hot due since biddari area are going to be developed n now there are a few condo developing around that area.
-
Those qualify for ai tong at 2b may not qualify for Maris Stella at 2b unless you are catholic .

Yes. I have that thinking too. They would get in to school eg .Maris Stella via 2b provided there is no balloting .Even with balloting if the balloting is for PR if the no. of Sc at 2b is less than the available slots. Otherwise , PR chance is zero at 2C.sherl:
Actually I wonder if some PRs this year learned from last year and decided to make use of church affiliations or other means to get in earlier coz 2c would be no contest with SCs. But anyway this is only speculation la.
PRs only have a chance at the not so popular convents. At OLQP, maybe, if there are not so many SCs >2km applying. At St Nick's or CHIJ TP, impossible for PRs. -

Yes!
Govt going to turn the bibidari cemetery ground into building 40 storey tall high rise Hdb flats. Nearest mrt is woodleigh mrt (purple line), besides the current bartley mrt (yellow circle line).
Is going to become like another Bishan. LAst time, Bishan also built on cemetery ground. Maris Stella will become the future, next hot school. -
arielle08:
GRLs in most Grassroots Org are only eligible to opt for schools within the GRC/SMC which they reside and serve, except for councillors in CDC and volunteers in CCC (think CCMC too), can opt for schools in the GRC/SMC which they serve and the GRC/SMC which they reside. So no privilege of 'all schools' in spore.
Hi,phtthp:
But for popular schools like nan Hua -
Normally balloting is conducted within 1 km.
so for those staying more than 2 km, think they are more or less mentally prepared that nan Hua admin will also request them to withdraw - sooner or later (by end of day 2, 4.30 pm)
If admin inform those more than 2 km to withdraw earlier,
Is better. Because then, they got more time to react, to consider other alternative schools nearby, ESP. For parents under grassroot category, phase 2b. Rather than to be told to withdraw on day 2, around 4.30 pm closing time which is late - because they wont have time to re-act fast, quickly enrol in another school, hence missing one very important 2b precious chance.
Most of the grassroot parents will apply on day 2 tomorrow -
Having got a clearer picture of the stats within 1 km, within 2 km, from day 1.
Then they will place their final bet, tomorrow afternoon.
Can I ask, does that mean for grassroot, they can opt for any school in Singapore?
Not necessarily the GRC/area they serving? :? -
BT MGS stats as of end of first day:
Singapore citizens:
Within 1 km: 37
1-2 km: 3 -
please share hong wen infor of the 62 registered for P2B… SC, within 1km etc…
