      Perth2020:
      Hi,

SST Pioneers donned their smart uniforms (\"Gentlemen\" in long pants & \"Ladies\" in skorts) to school with MediaCorp Coverage.
Son & classmates were each given a Mac & an Apple during recess by their FT.
All were extremely happy on the first of school.

      SST is COOL!

      Cheers!
      :celebrate: :celebrate: :celebrate:

Yeap, that's great. Saw them in the newspaper today.
The kids really looked engrossed in their project!
        Their uniform is so smart.

200 youths vie for chance to compete in FIRST LEGO League Challenge
By Evelyn Choo, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 09 January 2010 2148 hrs

SINGAPORE: 200 youths gathered at the School of Science and Technology on Saturday evening for a chance to represent Singapore at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge in the United States.

48 teams revved their motors to come up with the best concept for smart transportation which is the theme this year.

The participants come from all walks of life including student care groups and needy households.

Some were mentored for eight weeks by volunteer professional engineers.

17 teams received recognition under various categories, like teamwork.

Some even won a prize for dressing in style.

The winning team may receive S$50,000 in seed funding if their model is found to be commercially viable.

10 youths will represent Singapore in the World Festival this April. - CNA/vm

Anyone have a daughter at SST? My P6 girl just applied to take the placement test. The school looks very interesting, but I have two concerns. First, we live in the East and sheโ€™ll have a long commute. Second, when we went to the parents information talk, I asked how many girls there were in the school. The principal said 25% of the students were girls.

My daughter goes to an all-girls primary school. I am concerned that going to a school with so many boys will give her culture shock. Has anyone had any experience with this?
