St Anthony's Canossian Primary

May I know what is the usual timetable for Primary 1 school kids? Like what time do they start in the morning? What time do they finish from school? Is the school a full day school or by am session or pm session? How about the CCAs - how many times do they attend that and what time usually is it? First timer local school kid's parent here.
Another issue, Is it true that school will transfer to another location in 2011? Would anyone clarify this issue please?
Much time constrained parent and confused,
:?
PS. I have been posting my thread to other school. I was confused that the St Anthony Primary School (SAPS-mixed gender school) and St Anthony Canossian Primary School (SACPS-girls only school) are not the same school. Duh! -
Hi, the school starts at 7.15 with assembly. Then lessons starts at 7.30 am. very much the same as other pri schools. Friday is a short day. ends at 12.30 pm for am session and ends at 6 pm for afternoon sessions. they are still operating on double sessions. Till now, the pm sessions are for p1, P3 and P4 and morning sessions are for P2, P5 and P6 due to logistic constraints like not enough classrooms etc. They will temporary shift to a nearby school (was occupied temporarily by Katong COnvent when they went through PRIME. Katong Convent should have or will be shifting back to their original premise and St anthony canossian’s primary will take over the vacant school and stay there till their own renovation/rebuild/retrofit has been completed. It is not too far from their original plot of land. maybe 2 to 3 bus stops away.
enough CCAs for your child. Golf, bowling, music, dance for various ethnic group. log on to their school website, you can find more info. -
Hi everyone, this school has a change of principal with effect from this month and I believe some changes were made with regards to school hours. Please check up with school first and don’t take what i wrote earlier as gospel truths!! Do visit the school’s website for further info.

are there any updates on the school?

Not sure what you need to know but the teachers are very caring, nurturing and understanding. SACPS is listed by MOE
as one of the 8 schools with good progress in the recent PSLE 2009 results.
The school does not emphasize on academic results alone but a more holistic education. They try to instill values and good EQ skills on the children too. My DD2 is studying there now and she is happy there. -
Schweppes:

Hi parents,
1. I wish to know more about the CA/SA scheme in SACPS. Will they start to have CA1 & 2 in P1/P2 etc? Or only SA1/SA2?
2. Will there be single sesssions?
Many thks! -
Chrislee:
I am not sure of this year's assessment schedule as the sch has a new principal, so she may have a different working and management style.
Hi parents,

But when my girls were in P1, there were no CA1/CA2 and SA1 exams. There was only SA2.
Also, at SACPS, even for the upper primary levels, there are no CAs, but the school conducts mock exams (for P5/P6) or term tests (P3/P4) - which are the CAs equivalent. The difference is that the marks for the mock exams and term tests are not taken into the total aggregate score. The mock exams and term tests are there to assess the ability, knowledge and understanding of the students.Chrislee:
Eventually yes. At the moment, it is still double session as the current school premise is too small. But the school is going PRIME in 2011 and 2012 and they will be moving to a holding school in Bedok (i think it is next to Feng Shan Pri Sch). It will relocate to the current premise in 2013. Not sure if the next 2 years will be single session, but it will definitely be single session in 2013.
2. Will there be single sesssions?
Many thks!

hihi, my daughter is in P5 tis yr. All along she manages her maths very well. Not sure is becos she is in the best class tis yr, she seemed very stress. I am quite worried. Is it because she is lacking behind? Last time she does not hv prob with sch work, but now seemed like having difficulties very often. Do I need to get a tutor to help her? How are yr kids coping in upper primary?
Last time my eldest one in another school does not seemed to have this problem. Or isit the standard of the school is higher? -
Hi Lynn1967, I guess, the transition from P4 to P5 is tougher for some kids. One possible reason is that maybe the older child could handle the stress better than the younger sibling.
Another possible reason, is that SACPS standard is getting higher. If i recall correctly, when my DD was in P5, she came home with loads of homework - and she was not even in the best class. Guess, if your DD is in the best class, I presume the teachers will want to challenge the girls further.
Perhaps it's still in Jan and her engine needs to \"warm up\". Once she gets used to the pace and workload, I am sure your DD will do good.
