That's the reason why I run around different schools enquiring about the statistic figure today. Tiring but worth it.sherl:
Seems like a number of schools not giving breakdowns le. I dunno why as I thought it'd be better if school gave numbers, parents can make more informed decisions. This is feeling more and more like lottery.
Agreed. Many schools ask for registration no. before info given out. -

I've just applied for Marymount Convent. Live within 1 km from Chongfu but I don't want to take the risk of balloting. Hubby and I hope that we are right in our assessment that MCS will provide a more enjoyable and memorable learning experience! Of course, the terrible travelling time is a concern... but at least P1 will not be an issue! Actually was also considering CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel in Serangoon since it's one of the other gal school where maybe no balloting.. or canossa convent. What is your advice? Greatly appreciate it!

Hi,
Does anyone have the statistics for Fairfield? From the MOE website, there were 62 applicants. Are they all SC staying within 1 km? -

There is a direct bus 851 from Yishun to Marymount Convent School (MCS). If you decide to enrol your girl for Pri 1 CCA next year, you would have to make own transport arrangement. If you do not drive, you will have to rely on public transport either by taking mrt from Yishun to Caldecott station (6 mrt stations away) or take bus 851 from Yishun to MCS directly. There is bus 980 from Sembawang to MCS too. I was quoted $195 for school bus from Sembawang to Marymount and back. This amount $195 I could have used it for enrichment purpose for my child if I have chosen a neighbourhood school for her. I began to think if I want to send my child to Marymount by paying so much for transport every month, including school holidays. I feel it's not worth it and to just choose a school that is 5 mins walk away but subjected to balloting as the school is in high demand. I'm also in dilemma like you. At least you have made the decision. I'm still thinking about the distance factor if I should really go for MCS.

When I went down to MCS today, there was a big banner of bus routes that the drivers will fetch the children from. It seems to be islandwide according to what I see as I took a quick glance.
As for Canossa Convent, I had no time to go down take a look, so I can't comment. For CHIJ OLGC, I like the drama and literacy arts offered by the school but I do not like the \"atas\" admin and the school physical layout outside. I haven't stepped into the school so I can't comment much.
Congrats to you for successfully registering your child in MCS. -

Most probably we will go for the school that requires no balloting. I can’t imagine the stress of going through balloting in Phase 2C, child can’t get balloted in, go Phase 2Cs, balloting again, child can’t get balloted in and child enter Phase 3 with any remaining school that still has vacancies. Imagine the time wasted, and agony and stress. After tonite, I will not have to worry anymore. Good luck parents.
