Thanks for the pointers, I was also considering primary school with affiliation, but notice there aren't a lot of good ones near my neighbour.

At the end of the day, we feel worse off when my daughter's friend getting 220 can still get into the school the Moe allocated to my girl thru dsa. Why study so hard and pay so much for tuition when this is such easy way? Also, the top 4 choices our girls made have lower cop for affiliated students some of which can be lower by 20 cop. This is really crazy.... the whole process of psle is crazy. Until now thinking of it made me fearful .. the effort is not just kids but parents as well. Really think twice how to strategise the path for kids to prevent the stress.[/quote]

so, who in this planet always gets what they wants all the time. all i wants my child to learn is the attitude to knowledge, social skills and mral. things which will set him straight all his life.

knowledge is the least important. as they can be acquire from books. sports, social skills, moral, creativity, adventurous, curosity are things which are more important because it need to be learn thru experience. no amount of tuition can make up.

I am not sure ur kids are at upper level but I can say by the time the kids at p5 n p6, there is no time for curiosity or creativity. Many new and challenging concepts esp math come in. We parents cannot help the kids so where do we get help?? For parents who are working, tuition is the only solution. I agreed with what u say, but is it possible do away tuition in spore???

I am now in Melbourne even here Asian parents send kids to tuitions just to get into top public school. My girl got a scholarship in a private school based on what she has achieved in spore. They will nvr consider her w/o all these. We all have to face it, competition is everywhere.

very true. competition are everywhere. if a child is being given the right attitude, it would benefit him for life.

according to experts, many parent sacrifice the most crucial period for social and moral for academic skills. as such a lot of these child ended up with poor social and moral skills. one example, PRC of today.

Yes, this is what is lacking in spore education. My girl is so shy and quiet and coming aus we see kids are so outspoken. I do not understand why our kids must juggle two heavy loaded language subjects and at the end most are either good at one or none. Kids in Mel learn the second language less intensively n can choose what they want to do from pri to sec. Our kids in spore simply do not have the choice and time. I like spore edu system but the system can be better if Moe can look into this....

For PRC, though u may say they lack social skill but most of them are high achiever or scholars in spore, my guess is they are already strong in Chinese and for them to juggle just one language subject is definitely easier than sporean kids. This itself already disadvantage our kids.

this is utter rubbish. PRC is good becos they have gone thru a lot of classes since a young age. singapore children dun go thru so much as compare to them. as like your dd gone thru hell and fire to enrol in aus top school which she can excel.

however, gone are the moral education. i have t take back my words on social skills, many PRC master their own way of social skills widely see at geylang.

wihout The foundation of moral and integrity all the education in the world is useless.
