        Hi,

I understand the comments given by some parents, and we do acknowledge and accept the comments. As mentioned, we know we could have done better, and I am not waving off all comments given by parents. I am referring to the way the comments are made and I just want to remind all forum users to be mindful of others’ feelings. I do accept that the message and purpose was not clearly communicated enough during Fright Night, but one thing I would like to clarify is, Fright Night remains a surprise traditionally. We do not want to tell them first thing in the morning that there’s Fright Night later on because we want them to remain focussed on the given activities and tasks throughout the day, not spend their time worrying or thinking or readying themselves mentally for the next activity. By doing this, we can genuinely test their readiness to perform as a class or as a batch during activities.

As new Sec Ones in a premier school, your boys have to adopt a new mindset - a big shift from a young primary school kid to a confident secondary school boy. For some boys from neighbourhood primary schools, the transition is even more challenging as they need to cope with a new environment where the boys are generally well-behaved. It is like when you are upgraded from Economy Class to Business Class during your flight, you have to upgrade your behaviour as well because you will be seated with a different class of passengers.
            I am wondering whether:

            a) Are you ex RI student ? OR

            b) Are you current RI student ?

I am not sure if you are aware of the new GPA system in RI. RI restructure their GPA calculation so that a bad third language result will not affect the GPA. It will be affected unless our son did badly on a few subjects.

Really, kiasuson? That’s great news indeed! Maybe we’ll know more at later briefings.

Seriously, I hope he/she is none of the above. 🙏

The mindset is very dated - reminds me of the caste system.. :!:

                      Hi All,

Anyone know if there is any benefit for taking higher chinese in secondary school ? Very Curious :?

Lately, I come across many cases of parents who told me that their kids will be taking higher chinese :!:
I am rather surprised as these kids were not taking higher chinese in their primary school. I am just wondering if there is any benefit in doing so, won't these kids be at higher risk of failing their chinese subject ? Or is there any hidden benefit which some of us may not know

I only know that taking higher chinese will benefit those taking 'o' level as they can deduct 2 points if they pass the higher chinese. But for IP programs, there is no 'o' level so why go through the trouble and suffer ?

                      Anyone here knows why ??

                        hi

for some schools, higher chinese is a must as there isn't \"normal chinese avail\"
just like DHS, every1 has to take HCL (there isn't any CL textbooks listed in the booklist).

fr what i know, if the pupil has a pass in HCL at \"O level exam\" (meaning at yr 4).
he/she need not to take CL in yr 5 and 6. (correct me if i'm wrong).
