2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

ngl2010:
I got a bit angry last night. Panic mode. PSLE Oral is next week and DS is not up to my standard yet. I told DS that no tutor can help him at this point in time (he asked me to get a tutor for these 4.5 days :slapshead: ) so he must trust me. I have to remind him my 'achievements' in helping him. Tutors are good but they cannot stay in the house for the whole 4.5 days. They are useful to help in technical aspects but parents are the ones that can monitor the practices. Luckily after  he agreed to work together with me and use my method. I hope these 4.5 days will be fruitful :xedfingers:
To all parents... let's jiayou together :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah:
Hi ngl2010, will you be able to share your oral preparation method with us? I am lost, donโt know how to prepare ds. :imdrowning: -

dont let our stress reflect on the child... they may black out... instead try and build confidence by continuously praising and appreciating them and lighten the atmosphere at home... difficult job! but we must try and give it a go...Its my DS 12th BIRTHDAY TODAY! taking 1/2 day off from work and taking everyone out for Phantom of the Opera followed by a nice dinner...an attempt at destressing and celebrating my child!

Happy Birthday to your boy :rahrah: -
Each subj teacher assigned a piece of work for these few days. Reasonable load.
Prelims starts after the PSLE Oral days.
We got back the prelim oral results. -
Today is a short day. DS returned home at 12 and followed by lunch and tuition that ended at 2.45pm. I brought him for a hair cut which took us 2 hours. From 5.15pm to 8.30pm, he just lazed around, read his story books and played with his toys. No initiatives at all to do revision on his own. Now, at 8.45pm, he just started on his science homework! Should I be upset? I do not want to stress him but a random check on the ่ฏ่ฏญ reveal that he still cannot remember many of them! I am getting nervous!

happyheart, perhaps your ds just wanna chill for a day. my dd had some 'off' days too. as long as when i checked with her, her schedules are met, homework for school and tutors get done. i'm good.
as for his weak points, perhaps he's just sassing with u.... not that he really cannot remember. i feel that this last stretch is playing on the mental aspects liao. too much pressure may have the opposite effect.
cool down and talk calmly to him. ask the why, when, how questions and hear him out. :hugs:
