Not sure abt other schs but when I reg in phase 2C, the pink copy I got back will indicate whether I’m within the 1km range or 1-2km range. So the sch will check our address and indicate the sch-home distance…we don’t need to tell them.

If you feel guilty and pity the kid, then let it go. If you buay gam guan, then just ask the admin. If they did the correct thing, then there is no sabotaging. You are just doing the right thing by voicing your suspicion. No harm in asking.cherrygal:
Yah, just call the school on Monday to kaypoh. Some schools also publish the names of the students who got in successfully on their websites or on their noticeboards. Check it first before you call.
Hmm...let me think over it again this weekend..as feeling guilty to sabo them if doing so, and, what if it's real that they used rental add....kolien the kid bah..hope it's just my wild guess..That's why in dilemma sigh...
Anyway, I don't really think there is any wrongdoing since most schools are quite diligent over the distance thing. But then, if you cannot sleep, then just ask. I would ask if I were you, but would do it very tactfully. -
SaSaMum:
Caregiver's add will still be counted as 1-2km even if it is located within 1km.
I understand. Or they prob use a caregiver's address to register. -
Ya if really want to know, ask the sch. If the sch do not tell, then have to forget it n move on. Maybe this sch is not meant for u…another sch might be better for yr kid?
I chose not to join the balloting crowd tho there’s a few very popular sch nearby. -

Hi..Need your advice on this....just found out 1 of my dd's childcare mate he managed to ballot in my 1st choice sch in 2c. They are staying just next Blk to the cc and the Blk is actly >1km which was not qualified for 2c in that sch. I really don't know how could he go for balloting ler..my dd's another mate as well(diff mate) when i met the mother before 2B, I asked her choice of sch she said the famous sch all cannot consider cos of their distance also same as mine.and the day after 2B, I met her with the ds again I asked, she said she has not decided but suddenly the ds said confirm going that sch too, not sure the kid just joking or serious. Now I wonder, were they using rental add? Cos I still seeing them staying here le. How shall I find out more abt this as I am very imbalance ler.....Cos the failure in 2b made me very upset as I think it was so unfair...Sorry if you think I am selfish..
Report this case to the principal / vp of Fairfield Methodist primary, at once. Provide the name of this child, the block number he stay in. The school will check into it.
If this parent had purposely rented a house or only a bedroom (not entire flat) just to remain < 1 km from Fairfield, but did not stay in it, the truth will surface. This parent will bear all consequences. If a parent is prepared to cheat, likewise, he / she has to be prepared, to face the outcome. This will serve as a grim reminder, to all parents in future, enrolling in popular school(s).
Do not be afraid to speak the truth, if you know the truth.
The truth will set you free. -
wow … drama in the making perhaps.
i would suggest you check and make sure you get the facts right first. -

I don't think u r selfish but it is possible that they bought a property that is within 1km of the school too. Those with property under construction can also use the future address to register. -

time i will try to ask the lady in general office. -
As much as I hate the concept of snitching, whistle-blowing is the best way of uncovering cheats and frauds. The schools themselves have no energy to track every single application for compliance after the registration process.
I had a colleague who knocked a car as she was parking and wanted to just drive away but I forced her to leave a note on the other car’s windshield. Needless to say she doesn’t offer to drive me out for lunch any more after that incident.
Think about what it means to the innocent parties who had to suffer because of others who cheat their way into the system.
patlsy79, at this point, what you have is only anecdotal evidence, but it is still sufficient for you to bring up to the school just to clarify and check if the person had used a different address from the one which you say was >1km. Just a YES or NO answer would suffice. That would be all the information the school might be prepared to share with you. If the answer is YES, then you can question why it was accepted as <1km. If the address was different, then there is no impropriety. It is then left to you to monitor if the family and their child actually move within 1km of that school. If they haven’t done so by next December, go ahead and notify the school authorities.
