Hong Kah - 150 places, only 23 filled after 2C. In P2CS, 127 places avail, ZERO filled.

Worst pri sch in the nation? The principal should be sacked.
That's not a very fair statement, is it? The school may not be popular amongst locals, but at least it has plenty of places for foreigners in Phase 3. We should be thankful that such \"buffer\" schools exist to cater to the guests of our country.

u need to understand the local geography first....the sch is at a boundary of Bt Batok n the other schools (Princess Eliz, Dazhong, Lianhua, Bt View, Keming, St Anth) have more than enough places, so naturally parents avoid Hong Kah Pri which over the years suffers fr a vicious cycle.

Just realized you went for Canossa. Haha. Not sure if my heart can take it but yes I am going for balloting again in MCS!!

Just wanted to check, if I am balloted out again, and want to go to Bt Timah Pri with only 1 seat left, will I need to ballot again for that 1 seat if there are more parents like me?

From what I understand, if one is balloted out in P2Cs. They will fill up a form in the school directly, indicating the next 3 school of choices. The school will help to submit to MOE for them to allocate among the 3 choices depending on vacancies and distance.

:goodpost: ! Just delving into the geography of the place more specifically, Hong Kah is also in an area where

              1) not that much housing around, and the housing estates within walking distance are all mature estates;
              2) within walking distance in the same area are St Anthony's (reputation and affliation) and Dazhong (spanking new school building).

If I lived in the area (which I do actually) and just wanted to choose a school within walking distance, the other two schools would almost naturally be ahead of Hong Kah in my choices, just purely based on the above factors. To me, Hong Kah is just an unremarkable school, no particular pull or push factors.

Low enrollment may only indicate that principal/school didn't do a good job at marketing. But then again, good marketing is not necessarily an indication of how good a school IS. If principal's performance came to be judged solely by enrollment figures, that would be really sad.

23 is less than 1 class, of 30 pupils.

Maybe can throw out a list of unpopular schools, top 10 from the bottom.
                Moe said \"all schools are good\" ?

Then, moe should investigate in detail -
Why are all these 10 schools unpopular ?
There must be some reason behind.

And is it only unpopular, for this year?
How about past years ? Also like that ? Why ?

I wonder how they going to operate properly with such low take-up rate. It's quite demoralising to the staff there too.[/quote]I wonder what the sch will do with those empty classrooms?
The situation at my place is also the same. One sch is so popular that every year, <1km will need to ballot while the other sch, just opposite the other side of the road hardly has 100 students. It is really strange to see such scenario.

                      Hi ChiefKiasu,
U r right, my apologies to Hong Kah principal if he/she is reading this. There are other factors. But the main factor could well be area residents are all alumni of elite schools across the nation in this golden piggy year. Would a NYPS alumni in Hong Kah send their kids back to NYPS? I think the answer is obvious.

                        Chiefkiasu,

                        Hi all Kiasu grandmasters

Am looking at phase 3 now !

Please suggest…which of the following schools should be better in terms of academics n overall development - eunos primary / east coast primary/ griffiths.
we stay at bedok reservoir road and vying at the schools nearby. Why is Eunos primary school not so popular this year ? Any particular reason ?

Also any view about bedok west primary school ?
