My girl just got a place in Marymount Concent and we are staying in Toa Payoh. Understand next year Pr1 will be in the afternoon session. I am working in Tuas and by the time i reach the school it should be after 7pm. My friend was suggesting to me to let her take the school bus and i rush home to wait for her at TP. Any idea what time the school bus reach Toa Payoh. Should I consider school bus for her. Anyone has the school bus contact? Should I just let her wait for me inside the school compound?

Most schools closed by a certain time, so you have to check with the school. I don't think they'll allow P1 kid to wait by herself and its most likely office will be close before 7pm.

Even if the school gate is not closed at 7pm, the school will be really deserted. I really wouldn't recommend letting your dd wait there by herself.

My colleague's daughter, who like you can only reach home after 7pm, arranges with a neighbour to be the \"nanny\" for her boy. In fact, her child showers and has dinner at the neighbour's place. This way, the kid is well rested and the parents have a bit of breathing space after a long day at work.

Better to focus on the politicians. The public should know if the Minister of Education sends his kids to a 'good school'. Did he send them to the primary school that bears the name of the constituency that voted him in?

Interesting point, I was just wondering the other day where my MP sends his kids...

Anyway, MP does not have to stay (residential address) in his constituency right?

I did not keep track of the applications for CHS for each phase this year. Can any kind soul please post it in this forum? Will the number of applicants be more than the number of vacancies for 2A1 very soon in next few years with the new change in the policy??

I think for the popular schools (CHS, NYPS, etc), there will most likely be balloting in Phase 2A1 & 2A2, especially for those out of 2km.
Best to join alumni now and move house if possible.

Stressed man… was stressed with my DD when she’s balloting for St Nicks and thought since my DH is an old boy of CHS, I do not need to go through the same stress next year again now got this change in policy!!

It could happen. CHS increased intake by 1 class in 2011 and last year by end of phase 2(a) about 200 seats were filled, leaving 40 seats for 2(b) and 2(c). Cutting it quite close already.

Looking back further in 2010, 91% of 210 vacancies available were taken up by phase 2(a) so if this 40 seats rule was implemented then, some of the 2(a) applicants would have been unsuccessful.

They don't unless they fulfil 2B criterion like grassroot leader, parent volunteer, church (for mission schools).

So the most KS way now is:
1. Join alumni (if still in time)
2. Join as PV, or go be grassroot leader, or if you happen to be able to get in via clan/church then get the endorsement letter

So if fail at 2A1, then try at 2A2.
If fail at 2A2, then try at 2B.
If fail at 2B, then try at 2C.
