I am very interested to transfer my boy to Catholic High. Can someone enlighten me how should I go about doing it? I try to check from school website but seems like there isn't any application form to download as compared to some other schools. My boy is P2 this year and he is doing relatively well in his school (maintaining top 5 in his class).

Does anyone know if the transfer is base on 1st-come-1st-basis or based on overall results?

Transfer to CHS is NOT based on 1st-come-1st-serve basis.. The school administers transfer cases only ONCE a year, at the end of each academic year, after the year-end exams.

You have to collect & submit a Request For Transfer form, PERSONALLY at the General Office, with photocopies of your DS' exam results (CAs & SAs) of P1 & P2, CCA records and other Certs of achievements.. Yes, academic results is a major area the school looks at.

My DS2 was transferred to CHS at P3 (no vacancy at P1 & P2).. From what you have described, your DS seems to stand a high chance.. All The Best !!

PS: You can submit your application for transfer anytime during the year (eg. Now), but you have to forward your DS' documents to the school by early November (after your DS' SA2 exam) for the school to process your application.

Really thanks for your reply... You really bright up my day and boost my confidence of trying. I have been hesitating knowing that CHS is a popular school and transfering may not be easy. But after your reading your post, my mind is set on transfering. I shall call up the school tomorrow or even visit the school personally to collect the forms!

I remember I submitted the Transfer Form pretty late in the year coz my DS2's previous school released his Report Book on the 2nd last day of Term-4 (10th week). By then, CHS' school term has already ended coz their Term-4 has only 8 weeks. Thankfully, the Admin staff was still around then to assist me with the transfer application..

My DS2 was from a neighborhood school too.. Unlike your DS, my DS2 had never been anywhere near the Top 5 in his class.. :oops:

I emailed the admin department and they emailed me the transfer form. But you have to submit the application personally. DS was accepted into another school previously but I had some doubts at that time so only decided on CHS and did the transfer application on the very last day of the school term. You'll be informed on the 3rd week (someone pls confirm?) of December.

No regrets so far. :xedfingers: In fact, I attended the Prefect Investiture today and was very impressed by the principal's speech about leadership (\"lead to serve\") and the school's efforts in motivating the boys. Principal's example of some parents demanding that their sons get a leadership position (who later did not manage to due to the school's stringent selection and thus left the school after) was rather appalling but I applaud the school of standing by their values. DS was also a prefect in his previous school but there was no special ceremony so I was still grumbling about the multiple rehearsals. DH did not even turn up :spank: but I fully understood at the ceremony why the rehearsals were necessary. It was both inspiring and yet a humbling experience. It is indeed a privilege for DS to be a part of CHS.

CHS is pretty selective. I got a friend whose ds is a medal winner in wushu and was recommended by the coach to the school, but the school nicely turned down the application, saying he will not be able to keep up academically.

Oh, would you be able to share the email address of the admin department?

CHS has always been a dream school that I wish my DS can go to. However, due to the distance we stayed, we know that DS will stand a slim chance during P1 registration. Until today, I still have not give up. After reading both your post & firefly's post, this makes me even more keen to transfer my DS.

By the way, can I ask which year did your DS transfer? Is your DS doing academically well in his former school?

Can I verify that CHS dun take PV before the boy in the school? I managed to get hold of a staff and she said they dun usually take in PV now.

I dun mind to tbe in the PSG at all. If my boy yet to b in the school, can stil be in PSG?

If your boy is not in the school yet, you cannot join the PSG. PSG is only for parents of current students. For PV scheme, you should call the school to double check but since last year, they have stopped coz many PVs could not ballot in even after volunteering. If you are Catholic / grassroots, you don't need to PV. In the Bishan thread, you mentioned you were 1-2km of CHS. I am afraid you won't have a chance to ballot coz the school has been balloting at <1km for many many years.

I fully agreed. I am a community leader and staying within 1 km from CHS. I was unable to secure a place during ph 2B ballot.
Luckily, I managed to secure a place during ph 2C ballot.
