So true.... until someone they know dropped DEAD suddenly then it will wake them up. Or when they decided to take it easy & try to connect with their kids but it is too late.

Totally agree...and it seems that people are dying younger, even with the advance in medical sciene. I wonder if it's becos of lifestyle and stress.

We always make it a point to spend time with the kids. You can always chase the next promotion or increment, but you can't bring all that money to the grave with you. Time with the kids, once gone, cannot be bought. When you finally earn enough to spend more time at home, you may find the kids have their own lives, which sadly, does not include you.

yeah, i think pple here r droppg dead v fast like hseflies due to the lifestyle or lack of it. most workg frens i know clock in long hrs at work. they are walkg pharmacy cos they carry medicines for gastric, high BP, insomnia, panic attacks, UTI, constipation & what not in their bags.

Actually, I'm one of those that spoil market by buying quality toys for my kids. And I tend to go quite crazy with toys and books. :oops: Clothes I get ok stuff (not market lelong goods, but certainly not polo/gucci). All this not to look good - rather it's something I can trust not to poison my kids.


And I have brought my kids to holidays in europe - but that's cos there's no one in SG to take care of them, AND we go on the cheap (find cheap accomodation etc).

Not sure how this would then come across, but then, life is too short to wonder how other pp look at me lah. Eat, live, enjoy....I just make sure I can afford it.

oh oh...regarding stories of pp who live simply, there was once a story in papers about investment. This guy stays in clementi hdb flat, drives a really old Jap car...and has 10MN in investments :!: :!: ....sigh.....dunno how to enjoy life? It's good to love to make money I guess (at least for his descendants).

i dread holidays...the night before the start of it, i always don't sleep cos i scared nvr packed enuff or scared missing the flight.

Actually I still believe in living a good life and not be totally obsessed by money or live a extreme-thrifty lifestyle. It is important to use what money can buy and use it well.

U know, in our previous 5 room and our red van, we were so happy and satisfied with it that we told ourselves that we cannot get a better house than this; and our van was so nice and comfy that we won't get anything close. But now, we are even happier with our current house and we think we cannot get an even better-er house than this; and this car is now so spacious and sturdy that it's impossible to fall in love with another one.

to summarise, healthy & harnessing our Money to work wisely is the way to go.
