Glad that my child is in the pioneering batch of students! Hats off to the teachers for making the learning journey enjoyable!
Yepp.. pioneering batch.. and having a fantastic time too I must add!
My son will be joining my daughter.. and he's all excited (but a lil' bit scared) to join his sister. -
Seems like the parents of the current batch of student are full of praise for the school/teachers and parents. Glad that me and hubby registered our gal hereinstead of going to a more popular school that is nearer to home I

Yepp.. quite shocked to hear that there's balloting. But a repeat of the pattern last year, quite a number of those who registered are those who failed the ballot at nearby schools like Rosyth, Hougang Pri, Nan Chiau, North Star, etc. Heard we have 8 classes next year compared to 7 this year. The school is steadily growing and making a mark in the NE cluster.Clement Cheong:
Yeah I agreed. Faster than I thought of 3-5 years after the nearby estates are up. Second year already need ballot....Fast!!!
Hopefully thru' this forum, more and more parents will be aware of what Palm View is all about. Maybe by next year, PLVPS will no longer be a second choice school.
Kudos to the teachers and staff for putting in 150% day in day out. And as parents, let us continue to give the teachers and staff words of encouragement every now and then to spur them and let them know that their efforts did not go unnoticed.
Note to self : It's always better to be a constructive parent than a complain parent.. hahahhahaha.
\"But a repeat of the pattern last year, quite a number of those who registered are those who failed the ballot at nearby schools like Rosyth, Hougang Pri, Nan Chiau, North Star, etc. \"
Agree with u, Cyranocrash. Think a lot of parents are still trying for the popular school first to try their luck and leave the new schools as back up. Anyway since this is a new school, the chance of getting in is pretty high. Looks like the notion of every school is a good school still has some way to go. I don't expect it to be successful in the first instance but I believe parent's mindset key to education change.
All the 3 new schools in Sengkang area will have 8 classes. So PLVPS is not \"growing\" in that sense. So far quite happy with the teachers and staff. They have put in a lot of effort. The parent dialogue is starting again. I think the principal Mr Chua is very enthusiastic about what he mentioned last year: to co-create a school together with the parents.
To all the newcomers, welcome to the PLVPS family. Just like what cheesePie had mentioned, we should let our children create history rather than let history take charge of the children' fate. -

True. Mindset needs to change. We should stop pushing the school for academic excellence.. hoping to be on the same level with those branded schools which we have mentioned. We are killing our own school this way. We should think bigger and push the school to prepare our sons and daughters for life.. just as what the principal has envisioned. Schools don't just make leaders. What is more important is that they make leaders with great character and values. -

Very well said indeed :rahrah: :goodpost: -
Just learnt about something with regard to sending a child to the Student Care Ctr that is within the school compound… and I tot I should share it with fellow parents here.
Was told that while an in-house SCC would be cheaper, parents should also bear in mind that such centres will not operate during school holidays and closure days (such as paper marking days). On the other hand, private SCC vendors are ‘working-parents friendly’ in a sense coz they still operate throughout the school holiday period… much like a childcare centre. Not sure if this applies to all in-house SCC though. But could be a factor for working-parents to consider… esp those who do not have alternative caregiver. -
Some parenting seminar coming up… anyone going for this Friday’s slot?

There's a dialogue session on the same day. Hmm.. Didn't get this. Maybe my session is on another day.
