I noticed SQ has very lousy timing to Tokyo. I certainly do not want to arrive midnight and having to take the taxi to city.


May I know which airline offers direct flight to Tokyo at good timings ?

We fly Delta many times n agree with u SQ timing to Tokyo not very attractive esp promo rates. If u don't mind, delta leaves sin at 6am or 6:15am n reach tokyo at around 2pm tokyo time n just nice to check in at 3pm as need to take another fast train to city area for another 45mins to 1hr. Flying back to Sin will b in the evening at around 6pm n reach Sin early in the morning at 1am. Delta so far offers the lowest price at S$633 incl taxes depends on which day u dep n arrive :). Enjoy yr trip!

Hi how do we get to Sapporo from Singapore ? is it going to be super cold ? How far is Sapporo from Tokyo itself ?


Any nice scenic trains to take ?

We ever took JR train from Tokyo(or Osaka) to Sapporro .. but that was 4-5 yrs back.
The whole journey took about 10 hrs. We need to transfer 3 different of trains in order to reach Sapporo JR station. There isnt much to see when you are in Tokyo areas..only houses and factories. While reaching Sapporo, the trains travel closer to the coastal line, you can see padi fields and the coastal scene.

All agencies here only have one day pass.
It is advisable to purchase the 2 days pass from Tokyo Disney website as the queue at the ticket booth can be very long, especially during the weekends.[/quote]if you are staying in one of the official Disney Hotel, you can buy the entry-pass there.

In June, we stayed at Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel. I love this hotel. the beds are big and there pullout beds too. So all of us (2A2C) have our own bed Everyday they give kiddy toiletry bag. I stayed there for 4 nights so i have 4 bags

As for DisneySea and Disneyland, just be prepared that the Q for each rides are VERY LONG. though we were there on weekdays but the 2 parks are very crowded. Some of the rides you need to Q for 90 mins. The longest i seen was 120min!! Some of the hot rides, there were looooong Q to get fast-pass too.

Actually the crazy crowd had somehow dampen our excitement in both parks

There is early admission to the park for Disney hotel guests, a separate queue. Plan where you need to 'chiong' ahead.. .. The most popular ride is Toy Story.. We tried but queue is just tooo long..

The winnie the poon ride & mickey mouse hse super long Q. I Q more than 100 mins EACH. Must chong to get fast pass 1st. It’s normal to see long Qs and crowds. But I must say the crowds are mostly the japs. They Q in an orderly manner. They take turn to have photo shots with the surprise appearance of cartoon characters. The food there are so EX but delicious wor. Even their public toilet smell NICE & DRY!! That’s how discipline they are. Do your homework by studying the map of the park. U need a full day in 1 park cos of the QQQ but its all worthwhile.

In fact, we travelled to Japan twice. 1st trip is 5 yrs back. We took train throughout the whole trip. The 2nd trip was 3yrs ago before the earthquake .
Both trip we covered Tokyo and Hokkaido.

On the 2nd trip, we covered Tokyo ( mt fuji ,Disney sea and Yokohama). After that, we took JR train to Sapporo as we bought 7 days JR rail pass. After visiting Hokkiado, we took a flight from New Chitose airport back to Tokyo.

Any recommendation for hotel that can accomodate 2 adults + 1 child (11 years old) ? Preferred Shinjuku area.

On our recent trip in Jun we stayed at Hotel Century Southern Tower. It is just next to Shinjuku Train station. It is very centralised, and all the shoppings are right smack next to it. We did not opt for breakfast as we go down to the Starbucks or McDonald for breakfast, which is just outside the hotel. Takashimaya is just across the bridge from the hotel

The rates were reasonable for 2 Adult and a kid. The hotel lobby starts from 20th Floor onwards. Thus your rooms are all above 20th floor ( request for 30 & abv) cause on a clear day you could see the Sky Tree from your room, or Mt Fuji. It depends where your rooms are situated (western or southern) view.

Another very nice Shinjuku hotel is Keio Plaza (stayed in Premier rooms super spacious, nice view and solid amenities for adults and kids. Unbeatable location w lots of food and shopping at doorstep and sheltered walkway to Shinjuku station. Free shuttle to both Disney and Airport Express stops at doorstep.

All depends when U going. If mid Dec, Tokyo & Hokkaido combi perfect. Don't just stay Sapporo, must go ski resort. Best skiing in Apac. Powder snow unbeatable and very affordable apartments & lesson. Many English-speaking locals and expats.

I am planning for a skiing trip (2A and 2C) to Hokkaido in coming mid Dec. Our very 1st ski experience, I am so nervous. Free & Easy preferred and will probably book with Kiroro resort for 3 nights + another 2 nites in Sapporo. There will be xmas lightup during that period of time. How does that sound? Do give me some tips for those who have been there before. Where can I buy suitable snow shoe & winter wear? I am a little worried if we are too adventurous to do Free & Easy.

Pineapple , I m planning 2 nd week Dec . If u have time she stay in Sapporo for longer days, unless u are going Tokyo. I will be doing full 8 days in Hokkaido including 3 days ski. First time too

I been to Korea, shd be as cold. Must get wool thermal n winter boots for
kids to stay warm. Look out for winter wear sale at Expo or ware house. Get thinsulate waterproof gloves too, Sapporo itself is full of snow

Hi,

You will love skiing in Hokkaido, won't want to ski anywhere else. If beginner or first-timer, 3 days minimal because U need lessons. Due flight timing and 2-3 hrs to reach ski resorts, suggest Day 1 in Sapporo and take first transfer to ski resort.

Enjoy Xmas lighting in Sapporo on Day 1. Stay at Cross Hotel, U will love love the top floor open air onsen.

Strongly encourage to consider Niseko Grand Hirafu ski resort. Lots of English-speaking locals and expats. Very affordable service apartments (use Hokkaido Tracks).

Beginners need at least 3 full days since sun sets at 4. Day 1 should take lessons to really enjoy slopes.

Uniqlo best place to get good winter clothes. Ski apparel rent on site.
