[/quote]Any idea about students who are not in the better classes? Have heard stories about some primary schools deploy the best teachers to teach the best class, the tail-end classes are being \"ignored\".sarahteddy:

I have a Sec 1 boy & a P2 girl. My boy was in a top class when he was in P5 & P6. He got lots of homework (maybe due to PSLE) & more challenging homework (maybe due to better class) compare to other classes. However, lower pri workload is still manageable. -

It depends on the principal's believing & strategy. There will be a change of principal by the time your girl goes to upper pri. According to the current principal, the more experience teachers will be allocated to teach the upper pri. Weaker students are not neglected. They will be rewarded for making good progress & extra lessons (focus learning group or remedial classes) will be conducted to help them.

Not necessary , the best class may not have the best teachers . The school may deploy the best teachers in weaker class so that they may achieve 100% pass . Both my girls are in the best class , they are trained to deal with lots of homework , once they got used to it , they accept it .
In fact my eldest girl now in sec 1 IP school felt that ncps has trained her up to deal with her stress in sec 1 . Not to worry so much . Consistent work is important . -

Hi \"mummy so kiasu\",
I have a Sec 1 boy & a P2 girl. My boy was in a top class when he was in P5 & P6. He had lots of homework (maybe due to PSLE) & more challenging homework (maybe due to better class) compare to some classes. Sometimes he fall asleep while doing his homework. However, his teachers did not pick on him. According to his teachers, he was a well behave & diligent boy. My younger girl is a slow worker & need supervision. However, lower pri workload is still consider manageable.
My son is in ncps P2 now. Reading above, looks like parents need to sit with kids for homework from P3 onwards. how did you manage to cope up? Are you a working mum?
Please share your comments. It will be much useful for a working mum like me and those who are planning to quit job for PSLE.
Thanks. -
The definition of "Best Teachers" is very subjective. Best teachers could be teachers who are able to motivate the pupils well; engage the pupils, stretch the pupils’ ability; able to aptly explain lessons; or …? The list goes on …
For weaker classes, I have noticed that the teacher to pupil ratio is better, smaller sized class. I think it is fair, and I really appreciate this arrangement . Some pupils are also given focus group teaching after school, where the teacher to pupil ratio is even smaller.
Demands from teachers for top classes to the average and to the weaker classes are appropriate and realistic. -
Dear parents, did any of your kids attend the CCA Leaders - Team Building Camp in previous years? Any idea how are the kids selected?

Anyone know for NCPS , will previous pv have priority on the waiting list ?

I am happy to share my experience. Actually not all kids requied their parents to sit with them when they do their homework. All kids are different. Just like my 2 kids. If your kids are motivated, independent & doing fine in their studies, then you might want to train them to become independent learners. If they are not, you might need to spend more them to supervise & motivate them. Not all mothers can afford or willing to quit their jobs to prepare their kids for PSLE.
Moreover, you need to be familiar with the PSLE syllabus & patience to teach your own kids. My boy is more independent compare to my younger girl. She is less focus & more playful. Therefore more supervision is required. P3 will definitely have more homework compare to P2. This is due to an additional subject (Science) & the standard of the rest of the subjects will also get higher. -

Selection is base on your kid's school results. -

Agreed. Different kids have different needs. All kids have different abilities & talents. Try not to make comparison of your kids with others or even with their own siblings. You will end up giving stress to yourself & your kids. Set a realistic & attainable goal for your kids & work towards it. Remember to praise & encourage them whenever they make improvement. Most importantly, they must enjoy their learning journey. The definition of \"Best Teachers\" is very subjective.
