Yup. We only have 3+ weeks left
dunno leh. haven't got paper back. i really would like to know where she lost the most marks. to think she was so confident. sigh.... highest in class was 82/95. haven't got other marks too. can almost hear the clock ticking.

my dd came back with 72/95 for el paper 2. dunno what went wrong. now, being upset with those marks, trying to make amends with more assessment. i've got more marking coming my way.

Ah boy did worse than 72/95 which was the reason for my upset the other day. -
May i know what is considered to be a good mark for English paper 2?

I do not know either. It is not a fixed number for every child.
If a child is consistently getting > 80, then suddenly gets 60. This is a concern to me. -

Is it more difficult than usual? How about his classmates?PiggyLalala:

Depending on aim is A or A*. DD's tuition teacher said min 85 but must aim higher for his target for them. 80+ is achievable but 90+ is so difficult
DD's friend in Tuition, RGS GEP told her she aims for 90+, DD felt a bit pressurised but in a way motivated by her determination to want to break her own record (in 80+ range).

1. panoramic
2. from his previous brush (with) the law
3. will be taken to (task)
4. have my cake and eat it
5. put all my eggs in one basket
6. dismay = unhappiness
7. react = respond
8. plush = opulent
careless mistakes in MCQ compreh, grammar cloze, synthesis
6 mistakes in vocabulary cloze, 2 mistakes in synthesis
not perfect score in OE compreh due to (i) incomplete answers and (ii) wrong preposition
= badly done paper. -

Actually, if Eng P2 can get 72/95, to me is quite good already. If you add 72 to say 89 (31 compo, 13 sit writing, 27 oral, 18 LC), then divide by 2 is already 80.5. Middle A.
dd did worse to be honest. But the teacher said it is an extremely tough paper, whole cohort only 2 of them got over 70. None of the whole of P6 got A*.
In then end, dd still manage to get an A but low A. For that reason, Tscore has been lowered by alot. Just hope this is not reflective of PSLE’s standard. After all, sch did say the level of difficulty is raised. I still don’t agree with the way the teachers in dd’s sch marked though. Some answers are acceptable verified by an Eng professor from NTU (formerly from NIE) - but they strictly adhere to the so called ‘answer key’. I didn’t raise this. No point. -

that sounded kinda reassuring. thanks, verysuperkiasu. her teacher mentioned that it was a difficult paper to start with. on the other hand, this made her sit up higher and put in a lil more effort into her work. blessing in disguise?Actually, if Eng P2 can get 72/95, to me is quite good already.
