Just check the web. 425 took the IB, 13 got perfect score, out of the world perfect score of 45.


Perfect score is 45 points, average of acsi is 40 points, >38 points can enter top uni like Oxbridge etc.

It means >80% of the IB s can get in to top uni ! :celebrate:

LuckyStar, you forgot that there were only 27 students in the whole world who got perfect scores, and ACS(I) got almost half of that!

My take is that as long as the child is paying attention in class and consistent in his work, he should be able to do well enough.

I agree, n that's what a HCI teacher told me when I asked about tuition for my other son in sec 1. I haven't bought any assessments and test papers even in primary school except for lower primary when we first entered the school system and everyone seemed to be buying and sending their kids for tuition. We've since learnt to resist the herd instinct and see what the each child needs. It's hard not to be kiasu and worry but why not see how your son performs in the first half year before deciding if he needs extra? I agree with Mandarin about kids developing in other areas too, that's why i've always been more willing to drive them for sports and other activities not provided by school rather than for more academic courses to balance what's left out by schools.

I have to learn not to micro-manage my son and have some faith that he would quickly adapt to the changes that he may face in ACS(I) be it small or huge.

Mandarin is right.Its best that parents provide the support in time of need, and not try to take over when the going gets tough. Let the boys rough it out.
Probably this is what character-building is all about.

Sounds like a great start Sunbird24:-) if he’s never allowed to manage himself how will he ever learn? I’m sure he’ll surprise you pleasantly if you let him try and are around to help when he flounders. All the best! It’s really tough knowing how to strike a balance, and it’s tough not to worry even after you’ve gone through sec 1 n PSLE once or twice. I have another boy in sec 1 now in another school and I’m still trying to figure out the system there n can’t help but worry a little too. N this year’ll be my third consecutive PSLE year and I still worry cos every child is different so there’s no one size fits all approach.

woowww Chirunner :udawoman: , u r fantastic, 3 consecutive PSLE yrs - I wont be able to handle that, one was too tiring for me, another one in 3 yrs and I already dread it .

I can echo sunbird24's views, it is not easy to totally let go - but we r all learning. I am getting used to many new things just as much as DS. My DS has made some nice friends and is enjoying making his own decisions and finding his way around too. Though a bit worried on how he will cope, I am also determined to be his adviser and not his decision maker any more :celebrate:. Sometimes it is so tempting to just override, I am trying to bite my tongue and listen to his decision and support it too - hahhaha - not easyyyyyy - but will surely learn.

when a child offered an IP thru dsa, when his result did not match the cop of 255, he may go to o level track unless he do well in sec 2 ?


The IB class will be group together in few classes in sec 1 ? how many classes are there right now ?

Final group of IB will be to determined by sec 2 ? how many will be in IB track in sec 3 ? 400+ ?
