      Hi

Does anyone has experience with LCentral? Is it suitable for p5 or p6 ? From the homepage, I have the impression that they are more specialised in pre-school and lower pri.

      Thanks.

I am consider LCentral or TAS for my P1 Girl. She is really weak in her ENglish in all aspects. Anyone can share with me the difference in material and teaching in both centers?

I read both has good reviews and feedback. So i would like to understand more.

And also which center is better for Primary English tuition?

        Thank you.

Any idea how does Learning Point compared to Mindstretcher ? Content coverage in class is similar

LP is more expensive though, around $10 more per lesson before LP fees increase for next year

I wonder what is the ‘xtra’ factor in LP?

Anyone has experience in both centers?
Please share your experience - compare and contrast these 2 centers?

For a start, I believe class size is different.

For english only selected LP outlets has high achiever english.

Only Thomson has high achiever class.

Not aiming for high achiever class 😓 so doesn't matter
LP class size 12 vs Mindstretcher 15

                Kindly refer to http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/blocked-list-service-providers

As an independent site for parents to discuss all things related to their children, KiasuParents.com serves to inform and reduce the bounded rationality of people looking for various products and services for their children. It is likely that service providers will occasionally receive brickbats from dissatisfied customers who share about their unpleasant experience. In many cases, good service providers will receive support from their happy customers. All these comments give a balanced view of the actual quality of service offered by providers. Such openness allow the Internet to function as an essential source of information for everyone looking to reduce their uncertainty about products and services.

However, we understand that some service providers do not wish to be talked about in cyberspace. We will respect the wishes of any service provider who writes to us to be placed in our blocked list, so that we will filter out any comments on their products or services, regardless of content.

Please note that we have removed some of the posts in this thread as one of these service providers was mentioned.

I am really into dilemma now…

After comparing between LP & TAS for K2/P1 level. Below were my observed found:

Compo - TAS is really good at this area. From the technique application to method of remembering. It is helpful for a starter.

Comprehension OE - TAS has better layout and easier for young child to digest. LP at this level don’t really emphasis it yet.

Basic grammar - LP really drill the child in this area. Being gone through the trial at TAS, the teacher commented my child has really strong foundation. He was able to complete the worksheet all by himself with zero mistake. All thanks to LP.

Cloze - LP has enough practises in this area. Worksheets are more challenging.

Fees - LP’s term fee is $80 more than TAS. I didn’t compare how many lessons though. LP is 1.5 hour vs TAS 2 hours.

Class size - same at max. 12.

Overall, LP’s worksheets are generally more challenging. Their placement test is necessary to make sure the child is able to cope in the class.

LP is by 11 lessons and TAS by 10 lessons so effectively LP charges more, $32/hr vs TAS $23/hr.

Half an hour less every week is a lot.

Since learning point p1 only 1.5 hrs and charge more by $10, whereas Tas is 2 hrs, then take Tas.

For k2, 1.5 hrs is enough.
But for p1 onwards, 1.5 hrs too short.
Minimum require 2 hrs - be it English or Chinese.
Don’t forget there are 4 components, inside one English lesson :-
                      Grammar, vocab, compreh, Compo

If take 2 hrs divide by 4, means each component take about minimum half an hour to complete. But then out if these 4, Compo normally take longest time to complete, because child need to spend at least 5 minutes - think first, plan out first about the plot, what content to write about, how to write ? So, 5 to 10 minutes almost gone !
Tas 2 hrs is still reasonable, although 2 hrs still not quite enough.

Lp 1.5 hrs is … Too short.
Insufficient time given, to write a proper essay.

                      One more thing -
Is your child those type that had been trained to write fast, know spelling well, or those that write slowly, unsure how to spell this or that ?
The speed also play a part. If child trained to write fast, then child can write more, compared to another kid that write slowly. Just like in examination hall, every minute count.

Well, if you are comparing purely on the cost, LP is obviously ex than TAS and shorter lesson time. But if we are working on area that need to be improved, I will suggest go down to both centres to find out more. 😄
