I agree LP 1.5 hour is too short and this means more homework to be done at home! One compo a week on top of other few pages work
Lp 1.5 hrs is ... Too short.
Insufficient time given, to write a proper essay.
One more thing -
Is your child those type that had been trained to write fast, know spelling well, or those that write slowly, unsure how to spell this or that ?
My DS voted for TAS saying lesser homework. But he later told me LP has helped him a lot, so both are good. He asked can he go to both!!? :rotflmao: -
At the end of k2 -
learning point teacher would have revealed to parents out of the 4 components (grammar, vocab, compreh, Compo) - yr child is weakest in which area ?
Knowing this, parents should request for sample p1 Wkshts from both centre, zoom in on those area yr child is weak in, then decide which centre can beat help yr child.
Example
I know that My child is weak in writing composition. Then I will go for Tas, because it is 2 hrs, longer duration than lp, and one of Tas core strength lies in composition part. -

I know a mummy who signed her kid in both TAS and LP and now she couldnt decide which to drop (after 1 year) becos she said both have its own merits so she prob will continue for another year...

Hello, my friend also did a comparison with TAS and LP before.I am really into dilemma now..
After comparing between LP & TAS for K2/P1 level. Below were my observed found:
Compo - TAS is really good at this area. From the technique application to method of remembering. It is helpful for a starter.
Comprehension OE - TAS has better layout and easier for young child to digest. LP at this level don't really emphasis it yet.
Basic grammar - LP really drill the child in this area. Being gone through the trial at TAS, the teacher commented my child has really strong foundation. He was able to complete the worksheet all by himself with zero mistake. All thanks to LP.
Cloze - LP has enough practises in this area. Worksheets are more challenging.
Fees - LP's term fee is $80 more than TAS. I didn't compare how many lessons though. LP is 1.5 hour vs TAS 2 hours.
Class size - same at max. 12.
Overall, LP's worksheets are generally more challenging. Their placement test is necessary to make sure the child is able to cope in the class.
LP WINS HEAD UP compared with TAS on all areas.
Also heard LP has also revamped their curriculum so 2014 potential parents do expect lots of writing (composition), comprehension in addtition to their already challenging grammar drills, vocabulary, cloze passages, sentence synthesis etc etc...together with their dedicated teachers --- all the ingredients mixed to provide the perfect recipe to be the highest scorer in your school for your English Paper 1 and Paper 2

If TAS have pure creative writing for P1/P2 level, I might considering taking up both, to tackle all components. But putting the child with so many enrichments will risk early burnt out, no? -

Hi lovinglife, LP is enough actually...Every year, 98% of those who are in LP score A* or A in their PSLE (can see their website). This is very impressive!!!
