2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

ngl2010:
Thanks for the input. I spoke to DS about it and he agreed that he will be unhappy if he is in the Arts teacher's shoe. So, he said he will gather his classmates and persuade the Arts teacher to allow them to revise for PSLE during that 2 periods and in exchange they will spend one whole day doing Arts for the Arts teacher after PSLE. I am so relieved now
Frankly, I think the art teacher is doing the kids a favour by arranging a non-academic activity before the exams. It will take some stress off the kids, and they should be encouraged to participate. They may think that working all-out up to the exams is good, but a lightening of the stress will be even better. No point doing it after the exams! -
Art can be therapeutic in a way and can help reduce some stress and tension.
Talking about helping students to reduce stress, just curious, any parent is planning outdoor activity or any form of RnR for your DC even though PSLE written papers are coming next week? -

Not all children like Arts. Some may think it is more stressful to draw than to do Maths.ngl2010:

Think the pace will be as usual.Art can be therapeutic in a way and can help reduce some stress and tension.

my p4 ds thinks this way. he'd gladly pass his colouring homework to his younger sis. -

My P6 DS dislikes Arts whereas P3 DS feels relaxed when he draws. He is even venturing out to try manga drawing and his characters usually look quite alive. Not all kids are the same.ngl2010:

Hadn't thought of that! Both my kids love doodling and drawing, even though they aren't particularly talented. Maybe the teacher will allow them to do other things as long as it's not revising (assuming the point is to give them some relaxation).ngl2010:

:rotflmao: Ya, was about to comment on that too. Esp with PSLE so close, it adds to the stress. But your son sure shows leadership abilities in trying to ask teacher's permission to allow them study time. This will allow students who prefer to study to have study time and those who prefer to relax a bit have time to relax. Win-win for all.

I think I will use this method in the future. I will ask him to think how to make everybody have a win win situation and have discussions with relevant parties to achieve his objective
True about art being stressful to some. Whenever my nephew has art homework, the entire family is stressed. In the end, they borrowed a simple drawing instruction book for preschoolers from me.
